That should be done fast and not just by debating. We have worlds highest population. We are having very talented players. We just need proper investment, marketing, players more outward experience and we can be the champions. I would also like to recommend the IPL like premier league for Hockey too.

Good Idea, One in Football and in Hockey should be taken up. Hockey being our National Game I prefer Hockey. Hockey should be encouraged as it is less costly, more affordable. Easy to prepare grounds. better physical exercise and game will be over within 2.5 hours.

That would certainly depend on how we see it being successfull, if getting good following for the game , opportunity for new talent and money is all we want yes this is going to be successful. though no game can be as sucessfull and as popular as cricket in India, who knows footballers and their fans too have a day :)

I was so thrilled to hearing this news. Even though i am hard core cricket fan, i likes, support and watch all the sports except WWF. Until unless some body starts to promotes each and every game and sports we cannot say whether it will be successful or not. And i really wish to see the sports administration free from political power and corruption. I hope this proposal will work out and will be successful. And regarding the status of india in international level India won a WORLD CUP IN FOOT BALL this year, it was a tournament for for streetkids please see the link timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.../football/...World-Cup...street-kids/.../5725116.cms

Dear Himanshu, Just go over to Eastern India or Goa and you will be amazed at popularity of this game. And before the outdoor sports lost out to television & schools to money spinning, every school used to have a football ground at most hours in use. Whilst cricket was for real enthusists willing to practice on weekends almost everyone would try a hand with hockey and football.

I basically believe in begening, football is so far considered to be poorman's game, as you can kick anything that looks roundish, and enjoy youself.Advent of IPL, actress Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are planning football league which is a great relief to so many who were not able to have entertainment other than cricket, and those lesser privilleged foot ball players of Indian origin as well else where in the world. We have talent but because of finances foot ball could not really impress Indian citizens.Atleast may be few years from now we can hope India taking part in world football leagues,I appreciate the idea of football league in India similar to the IPL.

no! it will never work here in india at least. Starting ipl (a triumphant idea of mr. lalit modi) was not decided to support or rise any underrated game but it was for availing the fame of the game and the celebrity stature of its player as well. we don't have a profound background in football and this will never lead to greater extent of audience.

Different game should lead to different strategies, planning, partnership, players, bodies, everything et all. How possibly could Football be what Cricket is to India? With city specific following and not too many players to boast of, I see not much success from their thoughts and business plan. They would take this as just another passing thought when Shilpa and Raj are to sit with their business managers to thrash financials and strategies. That was not a bad kick and refer too, Yash.
