Yes, these kinds of atrocities are very rampant in the Insurance Industry and I have seen many the executives placed into my office under a franchisee business model, being terminated indiscriminately, without any reasons being assigned nor any labour laws adhered to. This had the blessings of the Top Management of these MNC's. Every minute of the executives on field is subject to abusive calls and they are subject to harassment at every level. As a business head in the unit, I could be a silent spectator due to organisational interests. Government in the Name of attracting FDI to project being investor friendly are turning a blind eye towards these kind of activities. Having said that, Licence once issued and business solicited by you,cannot be terminated till 3 years, subject to serious illegal activities proved against you in the court of law, and you are legally barred as an agent. So all commissions receivable by you even on due basis are fully payable. You can approach the IRDA for grievances.

Companies are terminating agents for not achieving target and there after they may not have acces of information and renewal commission so it is creating orphan policies. This is happening because, majority of managers are not continuing in any one company for a long period because their job als is not secured and after his resignation agents may not get similar support and confidense. If agent is permitted to sell the products of all companies, he can continue with the manager and do business
