I don't think so. Most of the people go to twitter to know what their followers are up to. News they get it from everywhere. Mainly they use it for socializing....

As most are aware, these days credibility of media is in doubt, radia tapes have shown how public relation lobbies,corporates influences media for their interests.We need a crowdsourced, citizen journalist, real time, twitter,youtube like news service. It will span all mediums using distributed printing, internet, satellite broadcasting and fm. Such service is urgently needed.

i support twitter news  becoz sometime u cant finds important news instantly from other news services. for example i hv remember on feb 2010  catches fire in  one building and first news came from twitter and within one min near about 120 tweets for that news. Here is one example u can say twitter news service will be beneficial and also you all person who are netizen spread true news from twitter.

Twitter is a medium to find new things. People follow other who share their interests and thus get more buzz about the topics.Then I do not see a reason why news can not be recieved from twitter. just choose which people broadcast the news of your interest and then follow them to get just the news you want.

I think twitter news consumers need becouse it shows or all consumers believe in twitter.It gives reality. "Many news agencies get their feed from a news wire service such as the Associated Press. The Good, the Bad, and the Reality of Twitter as a News Source The reality is that news often breaks on Twitter before it breaks by a traditional publication or even a blog or news website. See Stone’s earthquake example. Twitter is immediate, and it’s right from the source, whether that be a person in power making an announcement or an eyewitness report from a citizen. Another advantage Twitter offers is the ability to reduce spin. Granted, any single Twitter user has their own biases, just like any single reporter, but if it’s coming directly from the source, the content is at its root – it’s purest possible form, before it makes its way into the newsroom to be curated or elaborated upon by a third party. There’s something to that.

Just addingg one point to what abhijeet has said,what can they do by speaking their minds out..when they dont even know what they are speaking. I feel if you have it in you then you should try to make the change rather than simply suggesting solutions. Why say something only like that when no one is really listening(seriously)

Idea could not excite me b'coz twitter is a social platform where people speak there mind. It's a platform where people support a cause once news breaks. We all know how rumors spread, what if someone misuse this powerful tool for his/her own good. If twitter team is interested in news network then they should start all together new venture. I am not sure how exactly they are thinking about it but what about authenticity about the person who is giving some news.

No for news sake they need not go to twitter they are plenty of other sources more easily available.Twitter is just another social networking site which has got unnecessary buzz only because of the presence of many eminent personalities.After sometime its charm too will fade like orkut,hi5,myspace(to name a few) people seeing the same thing over and over again.However interactive they try to make it to users.
