If you are technically sound, and has a flair to handle machinery in production unit, its not immediately necessary. However, if you are interested to move up in the ladder in cross-functional aspects of the organisation, this qualification would help!

1. Engineering Course is much more respected than MBA

2. Doing MBA after Engineering is a Crime, it should be Banned

3. All Engineers should Innovate & Develop New Technologies for our Country

4. Today USA, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan are Global Leaders because of their R&D and Technologies only but not because of their MBAs

Yup, I do feel an MBA is essential for engineers. When we move up the ladder you need to manage people and get the work done. At one point of time you need a Masters degree and MBA is a good option for the same.

In case of Engineers working with Construction, qualification in management will be an advantage for him if he works as Project Manager of a site or as a Planning Engineer. Further it is also important for the Senior Engineers who works for a Project in totality from planning to completion. Such Engineers can take a PG degree later on his career, but first be maust have all the required technical knowledge on the subject.

An MBA is not essential for an Engineer, but desirable in today's Corporate world. An MBA gives an Engineer a holistic perspective which essentially prepares him/her to take better decisions. However, the common sense is the key for an Engineer to move up the ladder.

what i beleive is that when a person becomes an engineer he/she automatically inherits the character of an MBA,but nowadays a degree is valued and seen everywhere,so it will obviously be an booster to an engineer

Engineering itself is a proff.course.its just a opposite to MBA. So doing MBA after Engg.is wastege of time but nothing else.

It is always good to increase knowledge. An MBA will make an Engineer to become more technically sound person when it comes to business administration. But it is not that without MBA, one Graduate Engineer cannot move up in an organisation. Can anybody give some idea that how many percentage of Graduate Engineers in India go for an MBA each year? I think when he delivers efficiently on the job without being an MBA, he can have good chances of career progress.
