Honestly both the arguments are true. BI was there even before technology showed up but to get a few lines of BI it took months and years. With the coming of technology, to get the same few lines of BI,it takes only seconds. So, BI is independent of technology but there are technologies that supports BI the best.

Do you think There is anything that is not dependent in this world? Do you think artificial Intelligence whether in business or any other place can stand without any support? Everything that is artificial or not Will have some support to stand on. Don't you think so?

In ERP we are using SAP,TABLEAU,TERADATA which is leading provider of powerful, enterprise analytic technologies and services that includes Waterhouse,BI,etc.....this all are the part of technologies ..and we are using these to learn about BI.. so we can not say BI is independent of technology.

BI done without the aid of technology is prone to subjective and intuitive analysis based on the data presented, which may or may not be upto the mark. Verifying every input presented captured manually is a cumbersome exercise and definitely throw a lopsided view, at times! There are technologies available, why shun using them - meant for clarity and heuristic decision making!

Obviously BI independent of technology. If we want to make a container, there are many ways which includes wooden container, steel container, mud container, silver container even Gold container. Technology is like the base of the container, but BI is the container. Our ultimate goal is to have a container. There may be many ways which can help out to bring the same.

BI is becoming more robust with use of various technologies, but what drives it is the need for streamlining business processes and use of historical data with focus on data analysis and it's end use with high performance. Which ever technology provides most value for money and intutivity for quick development will have the edge.

BI is independent of technology. Infact Technology is dependent on BI. BI is the process of gathering information about a business or industry matter; data gathered helps make business decisions. Which also means deciding on technology.

I feel BI should be independent of technology and rather it should
focus on how to optimize each industry category. What the customer
really needs is BI that is very proactive [and] very
deeply verticalized and understanding of the specific requirements of a
particular user in a particular industry. With deep industry knowledge and than making use of support technologies will help to build a better BI.
