The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday sacked senior most leader Jaswant Singh from the party. And this had all to do with the book released by Jaswant singh on Jinnah.  The former foreign minister had released a biography on Pakistan founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah where he had spoken in praise of Jinnah which had created a controversy among the other members.

I think BJP are digging graves for themselves in this case, instead of showing maturity in handling the situation they have made it even worse by sacking a senior leader like Jaswant singh who had worked very hard for the party, in any case it was a subjective view from him and did not represent views from all, has one not have the freedom to speak his mind I think we are living in a democratic country where one is free to express his views, with incidents like this it is difficult for BJP to come to terms in future, they could have just ignored it, but then just because the issue talked about Pakistan and partition there is all this controversy, even the RSS needs to move on which has influenced  BJP in this regard, if they go on sacking people like this, it will be the end for BJP.  BJP badly needs a make over according to me.

this is classic case of boat full of sailors & each trying to row in different directions. The mantra for success of any team of group is how well the aims, policies & mission are ingrained into each of its members. This is what has been the fault of BJP. THe ideological differences have come up & that too from senior leaders indicate how poorly are they entwined.

Some say that it is the correct move. You have to ensure that what the party stands for in terms of its goals and its aspiration to people, that discipline has to be maintained. If Jaswant sahab was not attached to the party and then published his book or even article, maybe it would have had the necessary impact. But if he has written it, is there any or no truth to it, is my question??

More than his sacking, its what he has penned down thats really taking my goat!!! It clearly needs a more indepth understanding.

Thanks for the referral Yash

Thanks for the referral Yash. After reading the whole BJP-Jaswant Singh episode, I bought the  book and read it. I was very impressed by Mr.Singh well researched and equally well written book . The book is over 650 pages and it’s a criticism on congress leader-ship during partition, no where does it eulogize Jinnah. The thoughts are some-what similar to the book written by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre-Freedom At Midnight.

The action of BJP over this issue just proves once more that politics is no place for well read and thoughtful people. As long as you are able to give harangued speeches and breed corruption, you will be in the first benches of the party.

i completely agree with yash, BJP needs immediate overhauling of its ideology and social appraoch.... lots of chaos has been going in Rajasthan to dibacle their ex CHief minister mrs. raje... i do not think by sacking such core leader they are doing any logical to party or even will be able to maintain thier ideology..... May god help BJP...........

Even I think so. BJP could have used this chance to get Muslim vote and come into power. By doing this, it had maintained its image as a communal party like VHP and RSS also by sacking a senior leader like Jaswant singh, it has lost one of its experienced leader. Anyway it is already is going through problems. But now, the problems will increase.
