Corporate Management is supposed to be neutral and unbiased. This is what will lead to proper Identification of the quality and potential of resources leading to value to the organisation and recognition of individuals, which is a motivating factor. Anything otherwise will primarily act against organisational interests, leading to all possible unethical behavior that can be thought of including Selfishness and Dishonesty.

This is more imminent in family-run businesses, and not in professional set-up. Decisions in professional set-ups are taken on consensus basis. If any particular individual in a whole is affected due to change, one should not blame the policy altogether. People are by and large accepting "change" in the given circumstances. Endurance and sustenance are in great danger due to cut-throat competition, every decision taken to sustain one's initiative would obviously look like selfish move.

Yes it is..Because of some people into this kind of cheap stuff they knowingly are trying to effect others. And are effecting themselves also in a bad way. They are becoming gaining more enemies than friends. And in today's unpredictable world, I feel we should as far as possible stay away from all this as you never know when you would require the help of the others whom you have criticised or made fun of anytime in life.....

See...Politics can't be blamed for making anyone selfish or dishonest instigated inside an educational institution or at corporate level and even at much higher levels.. It is the power of an individual to get the air around him/her in his/her favor. Today in the world of cut throat competition, one has to maintain his equanimity which can be done either by being a direct leader in the institution or persuade as many around you with your charisma to get them in your supporter side when required. Even Darwin quoted"struggle for existence".. Moreover there's quite difference between selfish and dishonest. Being selfish if everyone really work out to achieve excellence there is nothing good like that. But being dishonest as well will lead to discrepancy in surroundings. So, be a part of clean and fresh politics to achieve a healthy outcome.

No political or external environment can make a person selfish unless it's an inborn trait of that person. Few people never realize that they are selfish and continue doing the unacceptable acts until some1 makes them realize it. It's like A person walking at 1 am in d night incidentally slaps some and when asked, excuses himself by saying that m suffering from somnambulism so didn't realize.:-)

The policies of the organisation in which you are working do have some impact on your behaviour. It has nothing to do with your ethical standards. You feel suffocated, when the working environment failing to match your personal aspirations and ethics. In such situations, you can not stay any more and try to come out. If this is the case, how the corporate politics make the people selfish?

You are right Sumita, but what happens when you are helpless and succumb to the situation . It would be a catch 22 situation , neither you can spit it or swallow it. I some times feel, my greatest weakness is that I dont know to play politics in the organisation. I recently stumbled upon a book " Manager as Politician" . When I started reading the book , I understood many things and I really got present to many situations which happened in my corporate life. A healthy politics is always encouraged in the best interest of the company and team.

its completely depeds upon the person of being selfish and dishonest and here also the cliche is repeating about "politics" . but Politics is good again it depends upon how its been used by people. so its the people themselves not politics which polluting the organizations environmemt. Also being selfish is not bad it help in sel-fdevelopment despite if the selfishness harm the organization.

Corporate education and politics make people not selfish, but they are modeled to be competitive. The corporate field need highly competitive candidates and these candidates are educated to reach the top and best.

agree with smita. while the environment does affect to some degree, it can not change one's fundamentals. would it not be possible that some of those who are selfish to begin with are vitiating the atmosphere by indulging in office politics ?
