They support and also withdraw. They succeed fast and down fall in equal speed. Some intelligent people thrive when they remain under control after certain level of success. In my opinion, every body is punished and the result is visible between two three generations of the corrupted persons.

Why people support those who are corrupt is due to some sort of psychological problem of the tormented falling in love with their tormentor. Take for example when Christina Hughes was abducted and kept for ransom, in the due course of her time with the abductors she decided to marry one of them. There may be a route through Paranoia too for everyone who accepts corrupt, like they delude themselves to believe something that is unbelievable with a motive to follow suit themselves if opportunity beckons. Irrationaly run nations are 'uncany' perse and we can see manifestation of all sorts of mental defects in citizen, from sloth to paranoia.

Sudip I am afraid I am not with you on your views. Honesty pays. Suppose today every body is honest where is the chance of corruption. If there is no giver then there will be no takers but unfortunately the salary level was so low for Government Employees they will willingly accept bribe, if not given will ask for it if not paid the job will not be done. Today with 6th pay commission the salary are in decent level so the asking for bribe will go down and the system will take a turn towards honesty may be after two decades but the process has started.

Friends I strongly support the statement. Because there is no meaning to good without bad.
So, that means you support 99% of the politicians who misuse their political power for their petty vested interests at the cost of the people of our country. You support those corrupt officials who tamper with evidence and help criminals get away after committing heinous crimes like murder and rape. You support cheap individuals who aldulterate food and cheat the common man at the cost of his health. You support nepotism and not merit or hard-work. You support thousands of such individuals who get a fake MBBS degree and play with the lives of innocent people. You support such people who open unlawful private educational institutions and cheat poor people after sucking out the little money that they have. These small examples are just the tip of the iceberg.
When you are making a strong statement like that, I suggest you to please give it a little more thought. When you say that you believe that curruption is necessary, you are spitting on the laws of the country; you are undermining the value of ethics; and you are missing the big picture altogether. Just imagine if most people on earth were corrupt (thinking that corruption was necessary)? What would happen? Anarchy and utter chaos. This is because no one would do his task or duty as he is supposed to do it. No one will be able to trust anyone anymore. Nobody will be responsible anymore. Our society is still functioning essentially because most people on earth are still responsible and good. The day this gets reversed, our human society will crumble to pieces.
Think about it.

certainly not, depends how fast you need to savour the taste of success. if you adopt the short cut to success, then you look for corrupt ways to climb the top. it is again the age old theory who is corrupt- the one who bribes or the one who accepts the bribe- which came first - the egg or the chick?

if the statement is really true.... i think we should read it once again.... would corruption.... evil.... go hand in hand with success??? i think believing in this painful reality rather than living upto our standards of being honest makes us a less valued human..

it is not necessary for success at all, unfortunately we have led a corrupt systme of practice- and that has beconme evil.. but not the necessary one. We need a revolution to outdo corruption and malpractices that has beocome such a norm of the day. It just not pollutes and creates a negative system, but it has also devalued the sense of worth of a person or an individual. as said earlier.... a social sin.

just few months before, i red one article came in TOI. heading states that "PROSTITUTION IS LEGALIZED WHY NOT CORRUPTION". The article is about, our common behaviour towards corruption. we have now accepted this as a part of our system. we are not ashamed, instead we are justifying it. i feel, even this argument is also unnecessary, that everyones consciously will not agree.

i just saw RDB, and i know most of you must have seen it already...but still decided to post this cause i was totally moved by it...i know that what was shown in it was totallt inpractical but still guys it made me think what i had done for my country and contributing to the gdp is not the answer...we do that for ourselves and not our country...i asked a few friends the same question and the answer i got was where is the time to do something for the country-when we dont get time for ourselves...agreed but my question is if we allow the country to go to dogs ,who and what will end the corruption...isnt it this corruption which allowed the jessica lals murderer to get away scott free , isnt it what allows justice to be brought...arent we part of this system...each day we read some sort of news , but we as long as we are earning our money and our not directly involved-dont feel anything...is earning money and being a part of this rat race our be all and end all...why guys-cant we adopt a single cause - something which we are passionate about , something which can help our society...cant we be responsible while casting our votes...cant we do our best not to bribe somebody or allow others to bribe us...cant we?

Given this huge gap between the theory and practice of how corruption is to be tackled, here are some suggestions
1. Pass a bill in parliament for transparent state funding of all elections in the country - an issue at the very root of rampant corruption, which trickles corruption down from the very top downwards.
2. Establish a rigorous regulatory regime with fast track courts exclusively for corruption cases. This will also call for fast-tracking of judicial reforms, and brining about extremely stringent punishment for the corrupt.
3. We are aware how corruption hacks away at the roots of patriotism (for example a corrupt sim-card vendor selling away sim-cards to Pakistani Terrorists, or Army Generals usurping apartments meant for war widows, thus demoralizing the armed forces, etc. If Dr. Binayak Sen's playing a postman between some key Maoists is sedition, it is difficult to see why corruption cannot be equated with un-patriotism.
4. Taking a cue from on-line railway reservations that reduced corruption in railway reservations, much of the discretionary powers at lower levels of the government mechanism must be dispensed with in favour of transparent web-based technology for routine governmental payments and receipts, and tracking of all property taxes, tax refunds, stamp duty, passport or RTO applications, licenses and what have you. Apprehensions on how the rural India will make use of such a system may be addressed though internet kiosks manned by ex-service men or self-employed graduates could be a good starting point, much like the STD booths of yore.
5. Discretion on the part of Government minions can also be minimized by simplifying many of the processes. For example, in Scandinavian countries, property taxes are paid on the basis of the frontage of the houses, which entails little computational complications and hence relatively little room for corruption, since there can be little scope for hanky-panky in measuring the frontage of a property.
6. Provide a constitutional status to the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation along the lines of the Election Commission, so that they are not handmaidens of any government or political party, and ensure that they shall have the freedom to act independently and speedily against the erring big fish.

With less corruption, our projects/initiatives like CWG and PDS would have been more successful, our country would have consequently been more successful and we would have been more successful.

Think of the greats like Mr Baba Amte, Ms Meda Patekar, Mr TN Shesan, Mr Swamy & Mr Bhoosan on the current Spectrum case, and more number of individuals who fight against corruption in our locality. On few matter we should not be a fatalist and we should hold on to our principles and values. We read in newspapers and may be majority of the transactions from court to ordinary government offices corruption is the order of the day, still the Right to information act, active support of few NGO's & very few honest institution in press industry, helps us to unearth the corruptive activities. To eradicate the evil it may take a long time, but it doesn't mean we should shed our principles. In this county selling a product which brings you health and hygiene is difficult than selling IMFL, cigarette or pan masalas, it doesn't mean we should prescribe these to our kith and kin.
