i think cricket is a very harmful for indian rest of sports and economy as we seen the drama almost everyday regarding upcoming commonwealth games held in new delhi which hosting in next year but no planning for that as current cricket series organised wonderfully so in india is on fire regarding that hosting.

I agree with you Mr.Ranjan. Indian government is spending a huge amount on cricket and almost negligible on other sports because of which they are struggling for their existence. We are also losing a lot of opportunities and awards because of this negligence.

Cricket is just a sport - it cant be harmful because there are a bunch of followers all around. How many times have we taken an initiative to go and watch a athletic meet or a hockey match even if it has international participation. If we have to be truthful not much - we always find grand stands empty other than families of those players cheering them up. The attitude has to change from the ground level only then other sports will get a iconic status like cricket has in india

I don't watch much cricket , but its like giving a dog an ill name & hang it. No its not the fault of cricket as a game rather its fault on our part, the people & the govt. that we lagged in developing other promising sports, though the scene seems to be changing from last couple of years or so, with sports like shooting, boxing, tennis etc.

Sorry Mr.Ranjan but my opinion is opposite to yours. Cricket is also another Indian game like others are. Then what is wrong if many people prefer cricket more than other games ? We should not point cricket as dangerous because of this reason...Even Cricket got its popularity in India from 1983. Before that also, it was like other sports. So, if our other sports also set up some milestone like cricket, they will also gain their popularity like cricket.
