First of all I will make it clear that why new generation is very selfish, because, since childhood, they have been taught that MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. More ever the child since from his childhood observe his parents what is the dealing of their partents with their friends and relatives so he become one step forward than their parents. So I would say that parents are more responsible for making the new generation SELFISH.But very few children they are not selfish, because their parents guide them in a proper way.

I want all this things. Want becomes need. I don’t want to blame myself because defense mechanism prevent me from counter argument. Since my childhood I have gone through different type of curricular. Nowhere I learn to help others or scarifies for others but whatever I did I know it was right. So what,  I am selfish.

yes Tina it is true, in earlier days people had time to look behind what is happening? now the generation feels that there are other people to look why should i waste time on this, like wise every ohter person feesls somebody there to look after and go ahead, now a days the life is fast moving, if any accident happens on the way by passers used to ask what happened, now no body asks, simply keep quiet, if any body involves in that they feel that they loose the time, like wise it is been carried away, to some extent time and physical factors like trafic jams, stress level are a great cause for selfishness, earlier days people could easily reach to offices, hospital and so on to the destinations within short span of time but now a days it is very difficult to reach even after hours of time, human natture cannot be the single factor for selfishness, other factors also need to be considered

more than the monetary support, its the attitude of the most in the current generation that is bad. as sumone rightly pointed out, maybe the last generation failed to give this generation the moral values. people were selfcentered even in past generations, but they had their limits of being self centered. this current generation crosses all levels, when it comes to family or work place, its their success and position thats of utmost importance. they wudnt hesitate to pull back sumone to go ahead in life, rather than developing themselves to be better than their competitors. the axiom " everythin is fair in love and war" has probably been taken in wrong sense by most of this generation

and yes, very few actually care for their parents.

Sorry Tina, the present generation is most selfish.  Everything they do, their thinking, idea's, future planning, revolve around their 'self'.  Once they attain their financial freedom they just ignore the family priorities & requirements. It is me,myself, mine attitude will takeover.

I was surprised to note that one of my sr.colleague was finding difficulty to pay his family medical  insurance premium in spite of  her daughter has secured a decent job in a bank couple of month ago.  When I pointed out this. He was mentioning that yes she is getting a decent salary but she asked him to manage for 3/4 months since she wants to buy a latest mobile handset, a pair of designer dress & Ladies toiletries & accessories.

When I inquired with my other sr.colleague, who's son has secured a decent job in a good company, more recently, surprised to hear the same comment by him about his son's priority for buying  latest mobile phone, Branded Dress & a two wheeler. then only he can think about monetary support to the family.

yes, i agree. the role of parents in guiding their children has rapidly declined. ppl feel its good when they say "i have allowed my child to do whatever he/she wants". such children invariably pick up "selfishness" as a trait, and cover it up as "attitude and confidence"

It is absolutely correct that the new generation specially in the metro cities are really very selfish, because they are not educated by their teachers and parents. It does not meant that by birth they are selfish. But they are not guided properly

Not really Selfish.... But must say we have become more concious, determined and creative. We are changing the old trend and bringing the changes which are needed with time to compete with everyone. So we are not selfish,,, We are leaders of new generation,,,, We have to take the nation to the new heights of Success. So we are working on that. :) Happy Diwali....

No, I dont think current generation is selfish. selfishness is totaly depends on the upbringing of an indivisual. There are people in this generation who are very humble, helpful and unselfish. And in previous generation people were there who are selfish. It depends on the situation, circumstances and the scenario.

are u still in doubt ?...or are you having second thoughts.......forget selfishness  there is a bigger problem ...I did say this generation is becoming  superficial, fake, confused, naive, monomaniac , unfriendly to nature , we abuse technology and law, addicts of sedentary lifestyle and eventually unhealthy and less tolerant of  this world ...Infact the sense of purpose is  missing in whatever is being done .  Our .. hate,  love, cry, laughter  ...all looks  artificial and  robotic.  In short we are  getting de-humanized

Absolutely not.... New generation is well educated and most of them are  having idea about life. They are bold and willing to take decision. They dont want to be cheated by others.Because of these reasons others will think that current generation is selfish.

There is no "HUMAN BEING' who is not selfish

Whatever the human beings do , they do it for themselves

In today's life survivability is an essentialist , it cannot be called as selfishness

If the new generation is selfish, the responsibly lies with the parents....the parents are forming the character of the children... so if the new generation is selfish parents are selfish.. but not the new generation .sorry to say this truth.

I do not agree that present generation is selfish Our education system is not enough for the children to learn the basic aspects of daily life. They are being awarded degrees only with less knowledge.I think the children should be taught lesson about behavior and social work. with practicals on the field, this will help them to become good human beings and will always care for others

agree with tina. don't think humans have changed fundamentaly. socio-economic pressures and relentless competition leaves little choice for some people. notwithstanding, there are lots of nice people around - we need to recognise them.
