DEMOCRACY IS NOT FAILING, MORALS IN DEMOCRACY ARE CHANGING THAT IS BECAUSE OF OUR POLITICIANS.THEY ARE LOOKING FOR MONEY AND VOTES ONLY, NOT BOTHERING ABOUT VALUES AND DOING UGLY THINGS UNDER THE MASK OF DEMOCRACY.

Democracy is failing in India because its not an effective system. Its a system where 99 idiots make government & give order to 1 intelligent. Democracy is a Foolish system where we get a RIGHT (?) TO PUSH A BUTTON ONCE IN 5 YEARS. Chinese system of Autocratic government is better in this regard.

just think about future prospects of our next generation and assume what our ancestors had thought and what we have achieved yet. are we on right track ? ? if not then are the right measures being taken? keeping the policies above the level of just head count

yes respected sir, as i see india a divine land of the whole world its democracy is being killed by the political parties and even the people who sits in its administration.... its not the matter that the name and fame of democracy prevails only in speech and examples....... still democracy should be a factor which helps a commom man to attain his own needs from whoever the highest level of ministry he faces.... but to my perception this was never achieved ...... stilllllll this discussion is the major key point to the media and film makers to survive in thier field ...... Hence democracy is a dream and not a reality......which i longs to see in every day of incident.........

Mr Jain, The democracy that is being practiced is worse than feudal society or colonialism. In a typical feudal society the leader ensured survival and good health of all workers as he required their services on a continued basis and in a way was dependent for their respective set of activity, knowhow and skill. In colonial rule you were aware, it is an outsider, who has invaded to take advantage of your resources and that brought forth initiates to forever making efforts to free oneself, and hope for betterment. Whereas in present scenario people amongst us, entrusted and duly paid for to take care of resources begin to lord over you, loot country's resources and take decisions for selfish interests at the cost of majority safety and security, surely is not a sustainable form of democracy. If 10 percent people loot away all the belongings leaving the 90 percent to pay for through successive generations there surely are serious flaws that require immediate attention and correction. And that is the reason every decision being taken ought thoroughly be thought after in best interests of majority and in long term benefits of majority. Simply theoretical explanation of democracy may be excellent it is its application in biggest democracy that will go on to define how good it is.

AM AWARE OF 'SEVERAL CASES WHERE PERSONS DULY REGISTERED IN POSSESSION OF VALID ELECTORAL CARD ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CAST THEIR VOTE SIMPLY BECAUSE SOMEONE DELETED THEIR NAMES FROM ELECTORAL LIST'- willfully or erroneously. Such incidents are rampant whence the electoral card is not of any value. Surprisingly there is no devised means or method of correction to enable participate in given election. The person/s responsible for creating above situation are immune of any action and answerability. Never ever are any elections termed void for non-participation of above mentioned voters. Where would you see democracy at work in mentioned instances.

When selfish or self serving deeds of a few are allowed to prevail over aspirations of millions by design, falsification and sustained ground rules sans getting challenged ----- it surely can not be called democracy.

Good Debate. Our democracy is big in the world because of population not by quality.(Quality is only on papers. Our constitution is great in the world) but its implementation is not proper. After more than 60 years of independence still, the basic infrastructure is the demand from public. Most of educated peoples are avoiding the polls. In politics there is less chance for good people. Present condition is not worst but if we don’t make any reforms in election process and control over Gundaraj in politics, we may lose democracy in the country. It is everyone responsibility to protect our democracy for citizens, politicians. People have to think about the Govt work and then vote. Do not vote taking any bribe/Gift/Money. Vote only for good people.

Most cases, we are truely need to say " YES". the majority of the poll and parties are making us fools, literarly. The revolution is the only way to get out of this. The proper education and self awareness is the only way to get to that.

We can stop this if we vote for right type of people and if political parties are not chosing a good candidate select and and make your own candidate to stand for elecetion. More than any thing educate your children properly teach them moral values and ethics. Elected representatives are your servants and not bosses only you can control them, it is your right. It is your right and duty to control a person representing you. He is not your boss. He cannot be controled by his party bosses.

the real issue is corruption - not - democracy falling. because there is corruption - we feel we are unheard. and a person paying price gets away with work done.

Democracy in India will never fail. Its just that we need to stand together for it and support it. We are Indians and need to respect the country, once everyone starts doing it the so called gunda raj will go off.

Dear Ujjval Jain, Thank you for your participation and views. I fully agree with you that the onus lies with us. There has been some attempt to form groups of educated people in Bangalore during the last Assembly elections and from that group whoever stood for elections lost their deposit. No doubt it is a begining and we should persue vigoursly. I have been persuading young engineering. medical and finance professionals to enter in to Civil Service (IAS/IFS/Central Services etc). Civil Service is not attracting them. May be because of low earning potential for an honest officer. Today most of the politicains are from among Lawyers and then from Film world. I would like to quote Abraham Lincoln here: " "Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. As a peacemaker the lawyer has superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough". Lawyers in India instead of making efforts to reduce llitigations encourage litigations help retard the process of justice lest they will have less earnings. With Government in such persons hands what we can expect. Our former Fiance minister told the media in contect with service tax that lawyers and doctors dont give service of course in a lightervein. But it is really true. There are exceptions of course and appologise to those good and honest lawyers and doctors who really serve the society. But such people are not entering politics or civil service. Hope this discussion will lead to some thing and Thank you once again for your views.
