Alok, you are talking abt two differnent things a) Privacy b) Anonymity. If you were a celebrety privacy is what you miss. If you were a whistle blower anonymity is what you need.

Most common privacy issues are unsolicitated email aka spam. The argument is will products like Diaspora improve privacy? will it provide higner privacy than what is already available with social netwoking sites?

Answer is yes I think so.

I support this concept it is very interesting, I think this will have huge demand in India.

Their objective: Our goal is for everyone to have full control over their data and to empower people in to become responsible, secure, and social Internet dwellers. We believe offering this service will be helpful to non-technical users who are also worried about their data and privacy online.

Facebook and Orkut are soon going to be past. Welcome "Diaspora" it gives you unlimited privacy. Promises to give online social networking sites a run for their money. It is even more important in India considering that privacy laws are not as strong as that in western countries. 4 nerds managed to raise more than $10,000 in ten days. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/12/nyregion/12about.html Diaspora - the privacy aware, personally controlled, do-it-all distributed Is this the answer for all our privacy problems (online)?

Thinking just upto ones own privacy cannot totally be considered as a whole or in broader case this might lead to some serious cyber crimes. If you think for your ownself say for example someone asks for your college notes , would you give it to him/her without even knowing who is he/she is ?
