It depends on the purpose for which you look for the MBA degree & the way in which you utilize the knowledge & skills to achieve the goal. For example, in Tamilnadu, the Govt. Engineers are paid professional qualification for M.E. but not for MBA. Whereas, in Corporate bodies MBA is much respected & brings in revenue.

in my opinion "management" is the "only" truly multidisciplinary field of study. from a home science graduate (with no malice here) to a geologist, from a history graduate to a doctor - everyone can benefit. the "utility" lies in the application. many look at management as yet "another" degree, & something which will "lead" to a "dream" job automatically. unfortunately, management (or any other degree for that matter) can only provide the foundation - the rest is up to us. how many management students are attempting to pass the exams only - instead of working to make themselves aware, upgrading their own employment oriented skills, improving their own reading habits, learning by understanding the modus of elders in the game, networking with the right kind of mentors etc etc. the list is too long - the essence is that one needs to "grow" in the two years of management post grad (along with "thinking" through the tools & techniques one is exposed to). besides the professional aspects, this is one field where one is afforded an opportunity to "grow personally" as an individual - take it or leave it !! it's not only a degree - its a period of leaving the "student" syndrome behind and turning oneself into a "professional" so that an employer is left with "no choice" but to hire YOU. luck works for those who work to make good luck come their way. without hard work very little was achieved by the majority anyway. Time will always be at a premium from the moment you decide to take management as the road. “find time” to work “beyond management”. sit down & do some serious thinking - work out plans - work in groups if you have to - you are restricted by the limits of your own imagination, or the lack of attempting to "imagine, plan and work towards its execution". my respects & best wishes for all.

Think and decide- this is only what I would say. I present few facts before you- If you speak good english, understand world economics and financial markets, can calculate percentage, multiply, divide the number appearing in a car's number plate that you view while you go in street by the street number of the shop where you are standing you are good enough to get a job in any private company. SO WHAT SALARY CAN YOU EXPECT?? If you can speak good english and write well and know nothing else as a fresher expect 6000 pm, if you have knowledge of financial markets expect 12000 pm and if you have the above stated number crunching skills along with the two above expect 18000 pm to start with. So, what you need to add the next two skills if you just know good english and can conerse well?? 1st pass NCFM exams held by NSE, it would cost you max 6-8000 to pass 4-5 exams. Thats more than enough. Study Economic times and Mint daily. That cost you 10 rupees daily. so that makes up an investment of around 10-11000. Do all these while in final year of your studies What you need to do to get extra ordinary number crunching skills?? Read QUICK MATHS by TYRA. So, now you are equipped to get 18000 pm. If you think of studying MBA you loose 2 years. Post MBA (till 90percentile) you can get around 30,000 pa in hand job. Not more than that in Kolkata at present scenario. You spend atleast 5 lakh now in kolkata for MBA. So, 1 year post MBA your salary is increased to say 33,000 pm. After 2 year post MBA you earn= -5,00,000 (your fees) + 3,60,000 (1st year salary) + 3,96,000 = 2,56,000 ' Compare above with this- So had you not studied your 1st year earning = 18000*12 = 2,16,000 2nd year you get atleast 10% growth. Lets say your salary is 20,000. so you earn 19,800*12 = 2,37,600 3rd year you earn =21780*12 =2,61,380 4th year you earn = 23,958*12 = 2,87,496 Complete 4th year of job and shift to another job. You get atleast 40% hike. so now your salary becomes 33,541.2 per month What is your total earning in this 4 years ? It is rs 10,02,476 What was your total earning had you done MBA in 4 years 2,56,000 What is your salary after 2 year of MBA? 33,000 What is your salary after 4 year of work ex? 33,500 So see the facts and decide. I am an MBA (Finance). But I guess its wastage of time. You learn better in work. regards Anirban -9163395713 anirbanchakrabarty.1981@gmail.com

Regular MBA is useful. However all those who do MBA through correspondence and take it seriously its helps them more .MBA gives an individual the complete business scenario in various aspects of business management.A professional after his MBA is confident of taking certain decisions in an uncertain environment.Business is always like that where it does not go as per plans .

Doing MBA is useful. It develops administrative skills. It is also a fact that there are many leaders of different fields who don`t have an MBA degree and they are performing well in their respective fields but MBA makes us familiar with the challenges of administration and we can perform better in our respective fields.
