Yes, but this has always been the case for most of history, except for some exceptional periods. The colonial project was also started in order to gain economic advantages. Its when economic arrangements break down, or when in a country the government is too incompetent to govern, that diplomatic/military domination is sought in order to gain economic leverage. There have been a few times when relations between nations have been dominated by politics/ideology/religion/ethnicity etc; but most of the time, even religion/ideology etc has been used to actually gain economic interests, which is likely to be the case in future also.

Ayan I agree with you totally on this in today's time the business got top most priority over politics since that is the need of the day. In earlier times we were not aware of the visits of heads of state since there was no TV media coverage but in my opinion the most important aspect of the visit of the heads of states always about the business besides politics.

For now, the major focus will be the President Obama's message on economics, on increasing exports, supporting jobs back here, including highlighting some commercial deals. Its all about economics and the economy and the GDP and creating sustainable economy in both the countries. Surely these days its all about economics over Politics..

Economics has become part of politics. Countries now want to dominate the other countries economically. Look at US or china. China is making huge investments in Africa in order to get a foothold in those countries and have a say in their internal affairs - meaning colonize them. It is already dominating the world by dumping its products on them cheaply and holding those countries to ransom by refusing to revalue its currency. And nothing to be said about US. They are already dominating the world economically. Look at India. We are trying to please US by giving them all our defence, nuclear contracts and become their slave.

Sorry Ayan, Still, Leaders are perplexed with a growing concern on Terrorism. Exploring the possibility to reduce it, if not possibly, to remove it totally. You always hear of sending troops to Afghan, Sri Lanka etc. Voice of concern on nuclear proliferation & reduction of armaments , still, a point of talk among global leaders. In the up-coming ASEAN country meet , Mr. Manmohan plan to talk about China's intrusion & visa issues. At present, countries are coming out of crisis. So, generally, we find talking on economy. More so over, Mr. Obama's insistence on job to America & cutting down of companies going for " Out sourcing" , tend to reflect their approach.
