People are complaining lately, Facebook is a social disease, not a social network.  It’s a soul-sapping time-suck that’s turning users into self-absorbed, online zombies, obsessed with “friends,” status updates and Farmville & other social games.

Some how people today have forgot to socialise actually, but socialise virtually through Facebook, people are addicted to it like anything, and now they are also planning a Facebook phone, as they know that people in future will access internet and these sites through mobile phones than PC's. And today one is always glued to these sites to see who has commented what and will be counter arguing and the productivity is totally lost here.

So, what do you think people, Is Facebook today spreading like a plague?? Share your views on this.

I think yes, its becoming like a plague and lately We don’t live normal life anymore - we friend, poke, post and link. We think in status updates, share way too much personal information and stalk high school crushes. And like a virulent social disease, Facebook is spreading across the planet - there are 500 million users. And counting. And with  all the other internet tools that are there at access for people, many are caught in the web of these things.

Knife is there. People are using it to kill each other, they use it carelessly and get wounds on their bodies and hands. They use more time to look at the beauty of the knife, they sharpen it and without any concern using the knife as a playtool. Only YOU need to be the deciding authority for your actions. Please do not blame on the TOOL by Your Irresponsibility. Facebook is like a tool, use it carefully and upto your needs only.

Facebook has millions of users and it is spreading rapidly as a social media marketing and networking vehicle. However, the spread needs to be observed further over a period of time as a lot of issues related to Facebook are cropping up.

The issues relate to privacy, security, being addicted to the net and a host of other factors. Hence, it definitely leads to a loss in productivity if used continuously.....

Anything beyond certain limit is dangerous!  No doubt people (students) are too much engaged in fB.  Only telecom companies are benefiting out of it, by integrating fB on mobile and special tariffs for such websites.

Every rise has a fall, but ultimately it should not cost to individual, society, culture, security, etc.

yes it is spreading like a plague it has more to do with the security issues in other social networking sites like orkut. That was the reason why ppl where deleting there accounts in orkut and creating on facebook. However after a period of time facebook too will become obsolete when people will get fed up with that too.

Well it would no be accurate to describe Facebook as 'Plague' the reason why I say this is because facebook today has more than members which if considered a country woudld end up being the 3rd largest country in the world after China and India. On the top of it Facebook is a great medium to reconnect to the peolpe who have touched some part of your life, I was able to meet people whom I met some 20 years ago... isn't that wonderful. One of my close acquiantences told me that via facebook he was able to connect to his school mates 45 years ago... that the most wonderful thing that happens to friends.... yeah some of us have been addicted to facebook and have kinda lost focus but is it bad as compared to cigratte, alchol & drugs....

fb is a gift to young generation of modern developments in field of computers. It is very accepted tool for developing social contacts. Every new technogical product has both negative as well as positive usages be it your cell phone or an ipod. These days everybody wants to flaunt his or her status fb has become only a medium. fb is spreading like a wave of social bonding and affection not a plague. sharing of greetings, photos and proposals I don't think make you a patient. just don't get addicted it.
