The term “social network” is of course synonymous with online networks like Facebook. But think about what you’re actual social life is like for a second. Are you really closest to the people whose items you “like” the most on Facebook? What about the people you @reply or retweet on Twitter?

Why are so many startups content to build on top of the Facebook or Twitter social graph, when a lot of them can access your actual social graph in your mobile contact book? We’re seeing more and more apps going for mobile first and then the web. So, what do you think people, Is future Mobile first and Web in the second place?

I completely support Mr. Bala here, and I am a firm believer that Mobile medium is where the future belongs to and whatever it has go to do with mobile medium will surely mint money, I mean this is one such device people can't let go off any point of time in their day to day lives, and the actual social network is in their mobiles than in their PC's or Desktop's, so whoever comes up with a great Mobile app will do wonders, and yes future is Mobile first and Web second...and thanks for creating this post and initiating a good discussion.

We're already experiencing the opposite and probably, after the advent of the web, mobile technology might take over.

Actually it is difficult to predict with the way both the technologies are evolving. But mobile definitely has the advantage by virtue of its easy application and ease of handling. In the sense u do not need to carry any bulky laptops or gadgets since the mobile that you are using itself would do.

But like i said it is a tad difficult to predict since even mobiles are dependent on web applications to run e-commerce etc. It would be interesting to watch and see who comes out the winner at the end.

Like a true business strategist, let us compare between mobile and PC/Web in the format of "Parameter (Winner)"

Cost (Mobile), Users (Mobile), Market share (Mobile), Innovation (Mobile), Integration (Mobile), Usability(Mobile), Mass market (Mobile).

The winner is Mobile.

I do agree Amrita, Mobiles gonna be the first devices for social apps, web, it will be the first point of contact. Specially the smart phones would be the future & first device than laptop/pc

Yes, I also support Mr. Bala's view, this is the era of mobile, mobile medium will defeat all medium, right now mostly people are managing lots of things from mobile instead of pc, because it is portable and easy to use. you can get smart phone in market which is just equal to you pc.

I think yes If you’re anything like me, probably not. Instead, the best indicator of who I actually interact with socially the most in real life are the calls I make and the texts I send, it’s all mobile interaction. I mean Mobile phones are the best place for Socialising than anywhere else. And in future we will see people building things for mobile platform first and then go for the web platform, so the priority will be for mobile phones in the first place than anything else.

This is not a issue of debate and rightly said by Mr. N.R. Kuntala... Mobile is only a medium , a device. It doesn't matter which device you use what matters is Info & Tech behind it which is of-course WeB. & If you say about it, it would be pretty more technical the Question should be about WAP or WEB. Then comes the debate point!!!

While it is very much possible that EVERYTHING will be coming on to mobiles in future for sure.. all this information will be coming from a server which is obviously on web. And technology has not gone so far where a mobile could be a server to host such a huge (considerably) content on the device itself. As they seem to be, they are going hand in hand now. Use of vast and varying features/applications on mobiles go on increasing though, as one said, it again depends on the innovations that come in the respective fields. Although use of mobiles is increasing, one need to consider how many people would access the all features given in the devices and how many prefer Web for the same features like social networking, online banking etc.

This  purely would depend on the innovations comes in the respective fields. If IT developed something that would have advantage over desktop then it can only happen. but right now we are just optimist about mobile's future to take place of the desktop. . there are many technical as well as behavioural limitations of using web over your mobile.

1. in current scenario there are many applications and programmes which can be use only on the desktop web.

2. you get bored soon if you want to surf net till long time.

3. screen is too small which intrupt in fast reading.

4. Takes much time to type as compare to desktop.

and many more...

so both things have their own advantages as well as disadvantages.

these could be alternate options for but can not be substitutes.. good luck..... :-)

Mobile platform has to wait a bit long, as web applications are what dominating today, the bigger market is where developing nations are there, like India, and in a country like India still the infrastructure is not there to support mobile phones, though 3G allocation has been made, people don use such highend phones...so still web rules all over the world.

yes even i agree with manpreet that manual or human testing is good because it will be mostly error free even if it is time consuming the result is much better than auto testing where the accuracy levels are very low than manual testing.
