If you think about the gandhi and read about gandhi than nothing different in today's world and Gandh. That regarding ethics we should always regulate and follow them otherwise there is no meaning of civilised society.

Yes, they are applicable & fruitful. We cant change ourselves to go beyond ethics if the majority is doing so. Yet, it is difficult to remain in right ethics as it may cost a lot to an individual. In addition to above, good ethics are always regarded whether in one's life of after death.

if everyone thinks in the same way then why have all our the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for no use!!!!!!! are their death of no use, if they have thought like our generation then could we have got freedom, would we able to raise this point today. if everyone lives for himself then why is HUMANITY still alive today, why do we still celebrate Mother Teresa birthday. why do we still celebrate oct 2nd and cry on jan 3oth.

yes it is possible, if we believe in ourself, and believe others. take for example a woman/man is walking on the street alone and she sees a man at a distance holding something, we immediatley come to a conclusion that something is wrong he will attack me, we not fearing for the other person we are fearing the tool in his hand, this is not what gandhi has taught us, this generation is filled with fear and insecurity among each other, hence they belive that it cannot be applicable, if we remove that fear in ourself each one of us is a gandhi by himself.

Gandhi was not only freedom fighter but as a person he was a practitioner of truth peace and nonvoilance. By his ever going process of self purification, Gandhiji had raised himself to the level of saint, in eyes of all. Gandhiji loved humanity and we call him father of the nation where as in usa he is known as herbinger of peace. Gandhiji's relevance should not be measured in action but Gandhiji was teaching us to be good in our mind and thoughts. i quote Him " Be true to your self. Hide not your thoughts. If it is shameful to reveal them, it is more shameful to think of them" We can see the relevance of Mahatma ever and ever

Gandhiji through his deeds appraised us that getting freedom is not sufficient we ourself should take initiative to do work and get the work done. In many a cases we see people saying Govt has not done or leaders have not done. Even small things in their own streets people r not taking initiative. Little initiative and persuasion can change the situation. When things move in positive way at least few people preach the ethics of Gandhiji they become relevant again.

Thanks Ms.Ravali for the referral. I would like to differ from your opinion. Gandhiji's principle is applicable to all periods- past. present, and future. With his wonderful principle of non-violence India has got freedom and his non-violence is a great weapon to fight against the English people. I have doubt that in case we had fight with the weapons, we would not had freedom. The patience with determination, perseverance, hard work, constant effort, and aiming/focusing the target will definitely give success.

Thanks Ms Ravali for inviting me & sorry I can't support you. Please read Gandhiji's work and not put your opinion on "sune sunaye kisse"... If you see thoroughly you would find that Gandhiji was always situational leader though he he was firm on his principles like non-violence, non-communal-ism etc... First of all this argument is too subjective. May be if you choose one specific subject... Bapu said "Insan ko mat maro uske ander ki burai ko maro" and today in context to terrorism I perceive it as: "Kill terrorism and not terrorist" You kill 100 terrorist and 1000 new are recruited BUT if you kill terrorism that will end terrorist and terrorism both forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He wanted people to use LAW instead of LATHI, he never said that you continue to suffer otherwise why had he did SATYAGRAHs. I appeal, do not debate on "Sune Sunaye Kisse" rather read his work & debate... Otherwise it would be like the people (95% + of all) who fight in the name of Dharmas have actually never read their own Dharmagranths.

If we consider only two of Gandhi's principles , a steadfast belief in and adherence to truth and non-violence , I cannot doubt that they will live for ever. I would like to ask those who dispute this - do they advise their children it is acceptable to tell lies , and also it is right to use force to achieve your ends ? Most of what Gandhi believed in was already well entrenched in Hindu philosophy ; Gandhi gave us the first practical application of these principles.

Yes they are.. n they will always.. Nothing is impossible..Sometime we feel that Gandhi's ethics can not be implemented in today's context but it is not a reality.. But i agree that all ethics are not accepted by single person.. But different people accepted all ethics in parts.........

Gandhi jee's ethics - many of them are still aplicable. but the world is so mean today. so all the ethics may be gandhi's or other's are just to say. no one follow any ethics today. everyone thinks that ethics are for others. people talk about ethics but whenever their turn, they like to move towards noney living ethics behind.

I support for this cause. It is really required for this modernisation world. Gandhiji was having a vision, especially to improve our villages. But now our villages are being lost. Development makes easier for mankind at the same time it disrupts the natural life or resourses

Ethics is universal and for all times.Ethics and morality should be the hallmark of public as well as private life. Unethical thought and act can only result in temporary gains. It is difficult to support the view that one should live for oneself.Just imagine a world in which everyone goes by this maxim. Mahatma Gandhi himself was an embodiment of this tradition. He not only preached morality in public life but also practiced it in personal life. Dr. MAHENDRA GAUR,Director,Foreign Policy Research Centre, NEW DELHI

The world has constantly evolved and the only thing constant in life is change itself.... Gandhi's ethics though some remain relevant largely cannot be practically followed or put to practice because of the constantly evolved changes and there simply is no space for the ethics which were part of an era before us to be put in practice now!

Philosophically the ethics look good if you have time to think about them and you are sensitive to the outcomes and get affected with them. Gandhian principles work with three assumptions. First, the person who will be the target of the implementation of these principles has time, this person may have a desire to listen and think about the actions, and this person is sensitive or influenced by others who can be moved by the Gandhian principles. Even if one of the three conditions exist, the principles are bound to fail. In today's world, nobody has time to think about what is happening and the reason behind them. Everybody is running towards a goal and don't want to stop to ponder on things that may halt the progress. These principles and ethics are wonderful but just not practical in today's world.

Gandhi's ethics are applicable but no body is interested in it in today’s world. His life is entirely an experiment with truth and people at present are far away from it. While he taught for sacrifice, we love to live with selfish and while he advocate for peace, we highlighted terror and so on. Therefore, you are correct Ravali.

Gandhi's ethics as applicable in today's world may be very difficult to uphold as the environmental factors are not very ameliorative for upholding his principles. However, each individual could strive to uphold his ideals to the extent possible......
