No comparison should be made between these who talented cricketer.Sunil Gavaskar is now 62 years old while Sachin is 37 years old which means that they played the game of cricket in two different eras.No one must forget that Sunil in his time dominated Indian cricket and was the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in test. And who says Gavaskar was not an entertaining cricketer...do some research please.

Gavaskar because he played against a formidable line up of top rate fast bowlers like Joel Garner, Andy Roberts, Mike Holding, Lillie, Thompson, Imran Khan, Bob Willis, Malcom Marshall-the list is endless. He did not even wear protective gear and had no past role models to guide him. He brought pride and agression to Indian cricket.

No Gavaskar wa not even half as good as Tendulkar..One can match there records gavaskar performance in the one dayers was poor even by the standards of ODI cricket played at that time not to forget his infamous innings of 36 not out in the 60 overs match. He had scored just one century in one day cricket(Compared to sachin who is know one short of a century of century) that too in the last match which he played of his career that chance too was given by Kapil Dev the then captain of India, during whoese tenure as captain he(gavaskar) never supported him and played politics behind his back. He was only a selfish test player who only played for the sake of records. If there was T20 cricket played at that time we would also have noticed the slowest and lowest strike rates in that form too.

Definitely it is Sachin. Though Gavaskar played the game well in a deifferent era, he was a selfish lout hogging the crease for his personal development. And dont forget hsi one point agenda which was to give players from bombay the maximum exposure. On the personal front too he wasnt a saint, he has the history of spoiling the careers of a lot of young cricketers. Not only that but also captains. It is history that he ensured venkatraghavan's downfall when the former became the captain for a brief while. As for entertaining i would rate Gundappa as a better entertainer than gavaskar. And Rathin, it is false to state that gavaskar played without a helmet, if you recollect his cap had a skull lining and not a simple hat as it looked. Besides all this Sachin is a much better player and a gentleman too both on and off the field. He is humble and helpful towards all aspiring cricketers too which makes him a much better human being.

Yash I agree with you since both are players of different era. At the same time I appreciate Gagasker for playing against those lethal bowlers of West Indies and Australia without helmet.
