Google is virtually synonymous with the Web, and many have come to embrace virtually every product and service from Gmail to Android that Google rolls out. A new study, however, asserts that Google's apparent monopoly stifles competition in many industries, and has an adverse impact on the economy and the job market.

With this,  Is Google Monopoly killing the economy??

Yes, Google is killing the economy here, I will tell you how....There is no net-economic growth or job creation from Google's "free" Internet sector model, only a deflationary price spiral, negative growth, property devaluation, and hundreds of thousands of job losses in over 20 industries. Consumers don't win long term from a monopoly-gatekeeper of "free" information access and distribution.

Well, Before proceeding I would like to highlight the fact that Googles' the only one which emerged as a "Technology God" while others were trying to converge market at an epi-centre and trying to monopolize the world market.

Considering the development aspect, it should not be the case you use any tool for unidirectional growth, Google provides open source technologies which result as a catalyst in multi-dimensional growth and development.

Of course the development product add-on the market potential, so it should be the approach that development tools should be available for free which GOOGLE provides taking the case from even a simple API of "GOOGLE CHARTS" to the so claimed "Android OS". And Henceforth the developed products will really behave cumulative to market economy!!!

I'm not clear on what mergers Google has done which he considers antitrust, but for now I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that's a valid point. I'm willing to believe Google is intent on becoming a monopoly, simply because it's so successful. No one has ever given me solid evidence that it's actually happening of course, but if they ever do I will happily accept it. So that's moot.

Hi Amrita, I'm afraid I cannot agree with you. Maybe I am dumb, but which economy are you talking about. If its the Indian economy then no-cos everything (almost) that google ofers is FREE in addition to being among the top 3 positions in similar applications. Tomorrow, if google charges us money say for using google docs, then everybody will switch. And if you mean the world economy, lets leave that to Obama and the gang. Let's try to put our house in order first.

not at all. The report, titled "Googleopoly VI Seeing the Big Picture: How Google is Monopolizing Consumer Internet Media & Threatening a Price Deflationary Spiral & Job Losses in a $Trillion Sector", by Scott Clelandof Precursor is well-reaseached but needlessly accusative. Google poses all the threats of the Internet economy as any other player does but its penchant for innovation is worth adualtion and innovation.

Disturbed entities like MS and Yahoo have been left behind. Hence, such accusations are regular fuel to a bonfire craeted by the media.
