The Delhi High Court has suggested that Delhi University and Bar Council of India frame rules allowing relaxation of attendance norms for students missing classes due to pregnancy.

http://babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/2008/06/pregnant-teen.jpg

The court went a step ahead and said that pregnancies of single women should also be treated sympathetically by educational institutions as far as attendance is concerned saying that the Supreme Court has given liberty to live-in relationships and it has held that pre-marital sex isn’t an offence.

So users, is government doing right by favoring Single & pregnant students?

Great job from SC. really appreciable.females should be given more previlages so that they can compete with this world simultaniously with all their biological problems. I believe the court has done the right thing. When lesser attendence is allowed on medical grounds, why not pregnancy, which is also a case which can be treated as medical circumstance. Maternity leave is a common feature in almost all companies in India as well as US and they donot discriminate anyone for taking maternity leave during promotions or while counting the service. The Judgements both given by the Hon'ble court is highly humanitarin and law abiding. I stand by the judgement in the spirit of having gender equality in India

I think this is what some politician called as INDIA RISING. In the name of westernization we are ruining our culture. Shame on our Law. Where are we heading with these decisions....With all due respects to the person, who gave this judgment. If the same happens to the family memebers of those person who gave this decision. The girl becoming pregnant shoud be able to prioritise between studies and pregnancy. When the university is holding the results of some students on the grounds of attendance, it should be applicable to everyone. I am sure, no pregnant girl get gyan during the pregnancy. It only speaks about the quality of judicial system we posses in our country. Western and europena countires now raeached that level that school going girls are becoming pregnants becasue of these kind of laws.Indian soceity dont need this at all. The word 'chastity' is not found in the Legal Dictionary, it seems!! Of late, the Courts are getting sexier day by day. My Humble request...Pl..DON'T KILL AND RUIN THE YOUNGSTERS LIFE BY THIS CHEAP JUDGMENTS

That could be a tough one. For many pregnant students this is a good move. Showing a little more compassion and concern for pregnant students is very good and beneficial for the student and school. It’s good for a school to try all that it can to help a pregnant student.

The basic principle and theory of the life on the earth is re-production of  the same species. marriages and  law are created for human convenience. A single women happed to be pregnant also should be given the full respect as she is on the process of the natures law. like Jesus said the sabbath has created for man and man not for the sabbath. so the son of man is grater than sabbath.

Accept the Human Existence First

Kavitha seems very upset with the SC ruling. Her cultural appeal has no value as she is talking what our old scriptures write but not facing on what actually is happening.

Single pregnancy......is a reality. We try to control a biological being called 'Human' made of thoughts/feelings/emotions/imaginations through ethics and morals based on the verdict of thousand year old unseen unknown names but human body is not bound by scriptures.

Time is never changed. Girls used to get pregnant before too and they are getting now even. To me pregnancy should not be bound with the word 'Marriage'.....what if someone do not want to get bounded/restricted in traditional filthy way of living with an unknown soul and want to enjoy the existence with her new eyes......there should not be any harm in allowing someone to see and live the universe in his/her own terms.

To me either life should be accepted with its vastness, freedom and totality otherwise only a hypocrite society will emerge as it since thousands of years and still creeping like a leech. Kavitha...one humble suggestions.....open your own wings and fly in the open sky with your own eyes.....may be you will be able to see why....people sitting at SC have to pass such judgments........ With love....

It is part of indian social culture and value norms to go out of the way and treat pregnant women (regardless of married or unmarried) with extra care and consideration. The court has relaxed ONLY the norms for attendance. It is the right thing to do.

Well it's a very important judgement given by the court . This judgement will surely provide a sense of respect and confidence to " single & pregnant " girls . Till date in our society these girls are looked like hell by the society and are given shameful comments . This is not expected from a civilized society like ours.

It is not a question of our culture anymore . Such incidents have been a part of our society since always . And i don't understand why we always give a tag of so called "cultured society" to ourselves. Every single unethical thing is a hidden truth of our society, then how can we be so proud of ourselves ???

And as far as judgement of court is concerned, a single judgement will not force any girl to go and get herself pregnant . it depends on individual to individual. everybody is free to take his/her decisions.

Kavita donot be emotional & upset. It is a humanaterian decision. Irrespective of single women status she is pregnent women & it is natural that she couldnot carryout day to day activities like any normal girl/women she deserve certain liniency, this is the court's view. It is the prerogatery of the women's decision on her pregnency. Yes, they may misuse it but the educational institutions can take a stand on this & put conditions against pregency during the school/college/course term. Society is accepting Single motherhood,live-in relationship.etc.,yes it is western culture influence, but this will be beneficial only to a few. Nobody can break basics of indian culture it is intact. These are all aping the western culture. Thanks to liberalisation & media hype. Relax, ultimately it is men who are more sympathising with women than women to women, a good subject for debate? put your input & shoot.

No we do not need change first. We need the implementation of laws first. Once they are implemented properly then we can think of change. How will change be helpful if pre-existing laws are also not implemented?
It is not so simple to reduce inflation . It is in the hands of government and they should try to bring the inflation level down. Step one : say bye bye to black money.
