Yes, IT does have a big role in Agriculture, just like its influence in any other industry. For example web based market place were Farmers can directly get in touch with the Consumers and realize the real worht of their products. Also, provide information regarding machinery/resources to be adopted in order to get maximum yeild for a crop in a given area. It can also provide weather/climate trend in a region and help the farmer decide on the best mix of crops to be cultivated.  I think the use of cloud computing will provide further benefit to the Indian Farmers to get well connected and utilize resources at optimum level.

i believe IT can play an important role in the field of agriculture because nowadays it plays a vital role in every field. SO ITS POSSIBLE FOR IT TO HELP IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR. the farmers can know about the new technology that can be used for the agricultural purposes. new techniques can be known from IT development

If Iam not wrong then in earlier years, i.e, in the generations of our parents and grandparents, agriculture was not based on ant modern technology. The farmers solely depend on natural procedures of farming like bulls, bio-manures,naturally available insecticides and in those days, not only amount of productions were far more than today, but also their quality were far better. Day by day these things are decreasing proving IT is doing not any great help.....
