A Big "no". We are not even ready to imagine about such a situation. It will take a lot of time to revive back if such a situation occurs. This will be only a plus point for the politicians to win the confidence of the voters for their own self motive. So, it will be better that no such incident occurs in the future in India.

I dont think so. I feel we dont have that much resources to stand as quickly as Japan can. I feel that India too has faced many traumas in the recent past few years in States like Gujarat (earthquakes), Coastal Area of South (ie Tsumami). That too took lot of time to recover.

Though we have advanced warning systems in place after Dec. 2004 episode, we have to go a long way. Preparedness should begin from last-mile operation, i.e. the man on spot who is supposed to be affected should be warned in advance. How will that happen? We are always geared for post-mortem activity. Unless we strengthen our radio, TV network and other effective communication methodologies with volunteerism, I would say, we are not totally geared for such disaster. Japan was prone to earthquake, 20% of major earthquakes around the globe happen in Japan, and the people are well disciplined. They don't flout major rules of construction. In India, we always find loopholes in every act, rule and policy. How can we improve?

@rakesh-- the will power is the most powerful thing to fight with any disaster ,and what actually Japanees have.only 100 life after 15hr.isn't it justify their will power.but what we Indian have is the power of holding the nerves and face the situation.
