Glitz, glamour, groove and grandeur - Formula 1 conjures an image of sport and style, coupled together. And by 2010, this racy racing fest is all set to put Indian tracks on fire. After having given F1 lovers in India only virtual ecstasy, Formula 1, is now set to provide some real action.

India being a booming economy, introduction of F1 race can pump in real bucks from the perspective of an economist. Such high net worth events should open opportunities for development of our infrastructures and investments. I am not sure how it will encourage the youngsters to make a mark in this world's expensive sport because it still remains a bare fact that Indian youth still struggle for even education

India should hold the F1 in style. If everybody takes the pessimistic approach, forget about hosting it in 2020. None of the world class events will ever come to the country. F1 is one of the most popular sport around the world. Bringing it to India will certainly boost the country's image. But on the other hand, there needs to be fast and overall development as F1 is not just about building the track. It can show a complete picture about the nation's development

F1 is in one way at Indian doors to get money and contribute for the further increase in the Indian economy. India was nowhere when IT started. People might have ignored the value saying there are lot more stuffs to be done to provide the better infrastructure, feeding poor people, getting employment etc. Now IT is feeding properly to a major population. Similar case with F1. When India avails such an opportunity, there is no way to give reasons but to work positively while giving it the best.

India is not ready yet (though I am sure one day we will be but not by 2010). My major reasons are related to infrastructure. First and foremost, we need worldclass airports to handle the private planes that each of the F1 racers bring with them. And secondly, the fans who would pour in. We need good connectivity by roads / public transport to move people from the airport to the venue. Looking at the state of the roads and the pace in which the metro is being expanded, I dont think we are there yet. Thirdly, hotels. Do we have enough hotels to accomodate all these guests. I think we are only a bit behind in this and can catch up quickly. Go India Go! Even though we may not make it for 2010, we can still make it by 2020

India has come a long way in terms of technology and some of the best minds in the world are right here in India. There are just too many political and other influential people standing in the way of getting something done. The ones who do want to be a part of the rat-race in India, like Dr Mallya, are extremely passionate about the sport and want the best to be done. India just doesn't have the infrastructure to do something of this size and thats only becuase a lot of money is just siphoned off and the same will happen when money is alloted for the race which means the whole thing could be in shambles and we would be laughed at
