India is certainly rising! Its not because our elders have shown us path, but because our youngsters have shown their competitive edge to the world that made India a preferable haven for investments!

Its difficult to say whether India is rising or not at the moment, I agree with you Mr. Muralidharan that youngsters today have given the edge but the corruption and other things are robbing us from that edge and with current Indian political scenario it will be very difficult to say India is really rising.

The rising of india is calculated by misc ways. some fact's of it say that india is not rising but other side some facts make wrong that. for example when we get depth in fact of dearness say that it is not rising. but against our educational life and Information Technology say that rising is not stop. so it is very difficult to decide. we can not decide for one or two things rising of india.

Every country has its problems. Holland has problems with the fact that the country will not exist anymore in less then 70 years, because there are not enough young people to pay for the pensions.

Israel, the educational system is hollowed out and collapsed. Within 20 years the country will not be able to pay for their bullets, not to mention a fancy airplane.

US with its many problems, too many to recall.

Russia, the same as the US, too many to call.

Each country has its problems and bad things to cope with, India is not the only one. But what is so special about India (and I can't say that about Israel and other countries), the are critical about themselves, they have an amazing culture with so many variations, they possess wisdom and they are able to show the world how you solve some of the biggest problems existing. So many people, so many variations, the biggest democracy. It's about time that someone says something like this.

And yes, India is rising and fast too.

P.S. And I didn't even mention the statistics!

Of course, INDIA IS RISING. And India is rising, despite of corruptions, scams. Because India's growth engine is insulated from effect of speed breakers like scams. This is a time, we take realisic view of corruption. Realistic view is.... India stands at 84th position in corruption Index, in list of 180 countries. Corruption Index of China is worse than India. The least corrupt nations are Denmark, Filand, Singapore etc. The highest corrupt nations are Nigheria, Ghana, Bangla Desh, Indonesia etc. In least corrupt nations also, some corruption exists. Again, some thoughts for brain storming.... Media has played a great role in highlighting the corruption at places of power, in un-earthng of scams etc. But corruption exists in Media also. It is overhelming to see the people's concern towards coruption in public messages, on social network etc. If all these people shun all corrupt practices in life, the corruption will be reduced drastically. Thanks Nisha for the invite

Yes India is really rising but the growth is really slow. Our country is not a small nation like singapore to grow big in a short span of time. Our country is a highly populated country and the growth will be slow only. Already our infrastructures were developed upto 90% like this we grow slowly in other fields as well.

Yes definitely India is Rising as well as growing.

m fully agree with 'NISHA' who invite me.

At this time India is growing in all the Field like Energy ,Education ,Health, Agriculture as well as Nuclear field ,satelite etc.

If we think there are some problem then we the people of India are responsible for it not India .

We select wrong medium like...

-we cast the vote to such person that are either involve in illegal work or will be criminal.we know all such things but choose them as our leader and always blame that "India is noy rising."

-Beside it no one want to pay the their Income tax that used in  development of country as well as for people .

beside it India growing.

that shows "INDIA IS RISING".......!

Mr.Manish Kumar your views are correct, but the question here is India. When we talk about a country's development we have to focus on the total development. In case when we discuss about issues based in our country I may accept your points of views. However the developments that we have achieved in our country can not be underestimated despite the issues indicated by you.

India is rising though the rate at which this happens is not enough to fullfill all the needs and demands on the individual by the economy. As one can see every economy generates certain amount of demand on the citizen, if this is more than what the citzen can tolerate then need and circumstances 'deficit' occurs. This is one reason for large scale 'unemployment' like that is prevealent in India now around 60 mn unemployed. Now when this need factor get corrected which happens only when more 'expansionary policies' are incorporated without restricting the economy on random trajectories of say 8% or 9% growth. Then ofcourse we have infrastructural defficiencies too, where we have to keep improving our economic infrastructure like Railiways, telephones, ports, ship building, airports etc; so that the expansionary nature of economy won't be strained. By 2030 Indian economy is supposed to find 500 million more of jobs, so the task ahead for present and future governments is severe, they cannot afford to follow the conventional slow movements of the economy. Thanks, Nisha, Manish for the referral.

A few in India may have been be successful at accumulating a lot of individual wealth yet, the majority that is "Bharat" is left out. Lower income and zero income groups are finding it even more difficult to survive. The MNREGA, PDS etc are pinching more white money than achieving for anyone's good. Infrastructure, industry and jobs are not growing.and allow to remind IT is not a lasting story as it is at best a support function to business.

Converting resources to appear as goals is a dangerous model.

Thanks for refer Mr Arikrishnan, and may add am surprised on your remarks on corruption..... please read a few reports of honesty international  and similar.

so big followers of CRICKET....MAKING AND FEELING PROUD FOR THE TALKS ABOUT VARIOUS ANATOMICAL STRUCTURE OF CRICKET, LEAVES ONE WONDERING AS TO HOW WE ARE SO WELL OFF, FORGETTING CORRUPTIONS ,SCAMS, GLAMORIZE THE GAME, PUTTING SAME COLOR ON FACE WHICH WAS BAD DURING HOLI., STOPPING TRAFFIC MILES AWAY FROM THE GROUND. GETTING THE FEELING AS IF SOME WAR IS GOING ON. THE GAME IS WONDERFUL. I WONDER WHY THIS WONDERFUL GAME IS NOT PLAYED BY THE COUNTRIES WHERE OURSELVES OR OUR KIDS WANT TO GO AND LEARN. INDIA IS RISING VERY FAST BUT THE IMPORTANCE GIVEN TO CRICKET BY POLITICIANS AND GLAMORIZING IT MAKES THE TOPIC OF INDIA RISING BIT DEBATABLE. BIG GROUNDS ARE MEANT FOR CRICKET ALL AROUND FOR 1-2 MATCHES A YEAR. I WISH ALL THE SUCCESS TO THIS GAME BEING PLAYED AND WORSHIPED IN BANGLA DESH, ZIMBABWE, SHRI LANKA, INDIA ,PAKISTAN . ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA MAINLYPLAYS ALL OTHER SPORTS ALSO. I AM SURE TO BE DAMMED.

villages are forgotten. cities are stinking. India stays the same. India behaves like an indisciplined person. he survives with a vadapav and if he can he will have a meal for 2000 bucks. and the key word is "chalta hai" . GDP alone cant rise a nation..or infrastructure..give them good education that is the soul. let the kids be at school. we dont need engineers with stinking money and confused eyes throwing their money at shopping malls. let the "respect" factor come infront.

India is not just rising, but shining as well in CWG, Adarsh, Bofors, Mining, and what not? Recently we have entered the Tickets Sale segment with over crores of money.

Yes, on the brighter side, we have risen to its truest sense in terms of GDP growth, infrastructure, education etc but cometh the development programmes, cometh the hour of currency changing multiple hands. India is certainly rising!

Compared to 60 years ago, the face of India has undoubtedly changed. The change is most striking in cities, with cars and buildings, flyovers and malls, planes and metros. Travel down a few dozen miles into the countryside and here too change is visible, if not as uniformly. But travel further into remote forests and far-flung villages and you will be travelling back in time -- the past lingers here, in huts and on the faces of landless labourers and forest dwellers. India's change has been uneven, its tryst with destiny still not consummated and the pledge for "justice, social, economic and political" — as promised in the Preamble to the Constitution, still not fully redeemed. "After 60 years, many of the issues that concern policy-makers and the people are the same," says Abhijit Sen, economist and member of the Planning Commission, India's top planning body. "Agriculture is still crucial, determining lives of millions. Trade links with the rest of the world, that is, import-export is still of concern. Living standards and poverty is still a big issue," he explains. There is a paradox here. By most economic indicators, India has made tremendous progress since it threw off colonial rule and became a democratic republic. Gross domestic product (GDP) has quantum-leaped by over 500 times. If you believe that tripling of the population has washed away this increase, consider the per person average annual income. From a mere Rs 255 in 1951, it has grown to Rs 33,283 in 2008. Steel production has soared by over 50 times, cement by nearly 70 times, electricity by a whopping 128 times. Food grain production shot up by over 4 times. Production of fruits and vegetables, eggs and milk too have seen unimaginable increases. At the time India got its Constitution, over 45% of her people were officially below poverty line. That's a chilling 162 million people. According to latest poverty estimates, the proportion of poor people is down to 37%. But in absolute numbers, it means that a shocking 400 million people are still enmeshed in poverty. So, there is indeed a paradox — the country's overall economic health, measured in terms of standard economic parameters, appears to be rosy compared to 60 years ago. Yet, going into the details — like life and livelihood in the hinterland — reveals not so healthy a picture. So Q is are we really rising? Have we understood our responsibilities? Being educated are we really making use of this education? Above all are we really using our "right to vote"? Before talking of India as a Whole we need reflect on, as individuals are we really contributing to the country's growth in RIGHT direction?

Rising means progress? But whose? Only money and comfortable facilities are not basic of progress.Moral courage and strong decision power are also not rising then every thing is useless.Internal and external both sides must be syncronize with each other.Likewise all the classes should achive fully satisfaction of life living supports.

Im totally in favor of Nisha, as this govt is showing us the front cover of the book where development is written but if you see inside the whole book is blank, we are building a very nice building probably the highest one but our base is not at all fit for even a small bunglow, this in future is going to bang us like anything, selfishness and self centered psychology of politicians will definitely kill us in future, further there is no point in discussing and arguing on this issue as it is the fact.

Industries have become the backbone of our economy. Exports have taken over imports. Even the Indian slums shone in the Oscars.

Amidst all these shine, we still have to polish a lot more sections of the society.

Education, the basis of social and economic prosperity, still has to spread and seep into the entire land of our otherwise beautiful country.

India is shining and farmers are dieing every day

Yes! It certainly is shining in the malls, in the PVRs, in the pubs & nightclubs, in the flyovers and high-rises of the metros. It is shining in the glitz and glamour of the high income class living in modern luxuries, earning high salaries.

  • Still people live on the streets and pathetic slums.
  • Still the homeless are dying in the severe cold of winters and the burning hot summers.
  • Still dirty scantily clad little Children of poor construction laborers can be easily found playing around, who have never thought of going to the school.
  • Still women, even the educated & working women, are harassed for dowry, leading to dowry deaths.
  • Still several villages are without electricity & pucca roads.
  • Still agriculture depends on the monsoon and farmers are committing suicide due to crop failure and debts!
