Its seen that recently Superbikes have just have got a new lease of life in India and why I am telling you this is because, recently Italy’s Ducati is looking to ride the fledgling Indian superbike market with models costing more than a top-end car as it sees consumers returning in hordes to the luxury segment after the lull caused by the slowdown.

Ducati, which sells bikes for Rs 14-60 lakh, plans to sell over 150 bikes in India in 2010. The company hopes bike enthusiasts will overlook the cost factor and lap up its products. “The bike culture runs in the genes here,” says Ducati Asia-Pacific CEO Mirko Bordiga. Besides already Yamaha, Honda, Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Triumph and Kawasaki have all had launches to their name in the domestic market in the past two years..

So, what do you think people, Is India's superbike market poised for a greater growth?

The large Young population of India and with their more disposable income, surely there is a good market for Superbikes. Price tags of course might needs adjustment when it comes to India, just becuase people are very price conscious and more over the current economic slowdown also has its impact. But, then this price factor is true for any other product and not limited to Superbikes.

There is a great passion on two wheelers in human mind, because more than 90% children on the earth uses a tricycle or bicycle to lean the riding. India is a steady market for any products due the population. Super bikes can be marketed in India better than any country of the world.

Yes! I certainly agree with your opinion. Indian bikers have long been waiting for a really macho bike to appear on the scene. Some eyewash has been going on by add-ons here and there and making bikes look bigger. But a real super-bike is yet to make avatar here. Now with even Harley Davidson eying Indian roads and Indian customers weathering global financial chaos, armed with more purchase power & a better taste for good things, I certainly believe that big things are about to happen on Indian roads. But Indian roads would continue to be a booby trap for traffickers!!!! No escape from that friends!!!

According to me yes, and the reason behind this is there are many bike enthusiasts in India and are willing to shell out money for these speed beasts. And also the recession till now had caused people to stay cautious till now, and India has a young population which has too much of disposable income with them who can afford these bikes, and it is said that India is a much bigger market than China in this regard, last year in India there were 1000 superbikes that were sold compared to 150 in china due to stricter rules there...so yes India is poised for a greater growth in this segment.

even if we have the takers, wher do these bikes ride?? The roads are in bad shape all over the country. The traffic congestion continues inspite of highways and flyovers.

These bikes need open spaces, long stretches of clean roads and a highway where the power and prowess of such bikes can be seen or exhibited. Welcome to India, the booming market of the world and the dumpyard of all wastes!!
