HI SUDEEP, INDIA AS A COUNTRY HAS VARIOUS RESOURCES INCLUDING HUMAN RESOURCES. WE SHOULD BE MORE CONFIDENT,ASSERTIVE BEFORE OTHER SO CALLED WORLD POWERS.WE NEED NOT GIVE ROOM FOR OTHERS TO DICTATE TERMS.

I am abroad. I saw here that western people respect Indians. They are impress with our spritiual power. Magical power. I think our spritiual power is self decipline, think & act habit. I saw in other people, they act first & think later. Am I rigt?

Thanks for referring Sudeep. Yes!! without doubt. we do not respect what is Indan. Look at the latest tall huge glass building of varied sizes and shapes emanating in every city mostly from unused materials and excess productions of some lands. Weather suited Indian climate or in consonance with what may be called Indian is never been the question. Why "reinvent the wheel" is a common phrase heard in India, yet imagine if the man who thought of a round wheel had remained satisfied with square wheel is never finding an answer. If nothing at least try to locate logic and reasons why our predecessors did what they did and how. Even for this we need others research to tell us, it seems.

Yes I agree totally Sudip on this and this mentality should be changed. It will probably take some time but once our consumer spends increases the things will change autometically.

We have a colour bias in favour of fair skin. This is not only true of fair complexioned people but even dark complexion people. Hence, we tend to believe in what the westerners (read white persons) say without much hesitation.

India is still subservient to the Western world. Consider China - China calls the world to China ; India still believes in going out to the Western world. How many international events do we host ? China started off with the Olympics ; thereafter they have been hosting world events one after the other. At present the Shanghai expo is going on , which is expected to attract 70 million visitors ! India's hosting of the Commonwealth Games has been the subject of so much negative comment , we need to see what will be the aftermath. Inspite of China wooing the world , it does so very much on its own terms ; it does not hesitate to tick off President Obama ; has India ever come down on any country ?

As usual, there's a fine dividing line between genuine respect for some redeeming features of the western world and mental slavery. Just like citizens of so many other countries of the world we do seem to have a bias for things western be it films, music, or dress. But there are many other countries in the world that are much more enslaved to western culture than we are.

We will be continued to be shelves until we see ourselves in their eyes. We are still not confident and only act as followers. Followers are always considered as slaves. The mental works given to us is not due to slaves, but due to our capability to do the job in better way than they are. We have to know ourselves and change our mindset and face the new world order that belongs to us.

Though we are independent now but I still believe somewhere are still a mental slave. We stilll do not have believe in ourself or rather to Indians. If one indian comes and says something on a new Idea, we will rather not believe him. In the smae time, if someone from the western world comes and says the same facts, we have a tendency to believe that. We still believe educations, jobs, technolgy etc all are in western world but nothing in India and no one tries do to anything towards this direction. Dont you think these are all signs of mental slavery.. !!

That can be kind of a toss-up. Some people feel like yes and some say no.Many corrective actions need to be taken to prove that India isn't a mental slave. ~Management Consulting And Counseling Services: CEO Business Management Solutions www.CEOBusinessManagementSolutions.com

I think it is the aspirational factor which is misconstrued as a mental slavery. Western world has for over some centuries been more affluent than its eastern counter-parts. Since the less endowed in the society always try to imbibe and imitate the more prosperous, so also do we. Slavery is not the right word to describe this attitude, we can describe it as "over awed" Jyothiraman

How can India be mental slave to any part of the world? It is too generic a statement. Indian companies getting outsourced jobs from the Western World does not make them mental slave. It is a type of business. We need work for sustaining ourselves and that is normal. Doing work is a matter of pride and not a shame. We serve on agreed terms and conditions so at the most we can be termed as servants or employees but definitely not mental slaves. An Indian not respecting another Indian as one particular example albeit not for all cases also does not point to mental slavery to anyone. That can be at the most a psychological problem or a case of low self esteem.

I am reading a book by Prof. Fritjof Capra, 'The Tao of Physics' which can answer this question. Please try to read it. It is an old book with updates coming out now. Western world they are rational thinkers where as we have a mystical culture based on intution. We consider any abstractions about nature is 'avidiya' or ignorance. Oour idea is to live in harmony of mind qnd body fused in unity. This was the philosophy of Greek philosophera Peremendis and Elia which we also follow. Western thoughts are more masculine where as ours is more feminine.
