I do not think so. Not only TATA but there are many industrialists bought many foreign companies. And about recession,India was among the countries who were minimal affected by the recession which means business and exports were going on properly. Foreign companies in India and companies solely relying on foreign clients were effected. Rest nothing was that bad.

Merely buying an International company can be no guarantee that working of the mother company in India would change. The takeover is a senior Management level financial action while the process gaps can emanate from initial stage. Yes increasing inter plant exchange would add exposure yet would require some time to happen.

Investing in Research and development and continual training is a simpler method.

After aquiring corus, TATA has got good exposure worldwide but what about the other automobile companies  they are working good in india but in abroad they are struggling. Apart from that there goverment is also not serious, it has been proved in this recession...

I really dont think so that the Indian companies lack any global exposure, most of the companies have there offices in almost every important country of the world.. esp software companies... they have made there presence felt everywhere.......and if we talk about manufacturing, foreign companies who are investing in India...and developing the products make sure that the manufacturing companies have also made the world think about them
