Shabana azmi is wrong when she blames Indian Democracy. Democracy gives equal rights to everybody, so it can not be unfair to muslims. Indian political social system poses some real problems for muslims: 1. There is no worthwhile support to muslims in the face of growing coercion from some sections asking them to abondon their identity in the name of national integration. 2.Muslim and christian SC/ST are not entitled for any reservation. If religion can not be a ground for granting reservation, how can it remain a ground for denying reservation since so many years. 3. Many castes among muslims, ditto equivalent to OBC castes, are not recognised as OBC. 4. Media is biggest culprit against muslim, which boosts myths of muslim appeasement and high population growth, never supported by authentic statistical data. 5.Our Political system, instead of addressing muslims real and genuine concerns, gives symbolic lollypops, which is being highlighted by media. for example real Muslims never ask for Haj subsidy, becoz it is their duty to bear the expences of Haj, and not that of government. they demand decent public schools and colleges , basic civil services like water and sanitation etc in their locality. but government ignores it and gives them Haj subsidy to a handful of them, so that media and hostile elements get a chance to creat an atmosphere against them. Same goes for many other schemes, say, waqf grants, most part of which lands in the pockets of related mantris and babus. 6.It has been proved in majority of cases police framed charges against weaker sections, specially muslims. Courts found police guilty of worst kind of unprofessioanl and immoral conduct. But there is rarely any attempt to make police force acountable and responsible. where will this ultimately lead to?Many careers and families have been ruined due to this. people had to sell off their houses to pay heavy court fees. 7.One can pass any remark against pending court case of Babari Masjid and it is not contempt of court. 8.Sri krisna commission report on Bombay riots merely did not exist. 9. VHP etc can openly declare that they will not obey court decision in Babari case, if it is against them. Ordinarily this offense amounts rebellion against nation. Despite all this I sincerely think that Indian Democracy is far mor healthy than paki or bengali democracy.

india is a democratic , socialist secular republic and their is no question of unfairness towards muslims , yes at individual levels there could be some biases , which are prevalent globallly amongst different communities.

Well..I dont agree in blaming the Muslim community as a whole in this scenario...There maybe some Muslims who are not getting the benefit of Indian democracy and there can be some who are enjoying the benefits...to decide if Indian government is really supportive to Muslims, we will have to find out the number of Muslims who are actually benefited..so, to blame the entire community or the present goverment, is absolutely wrong...

India democracy is not unfair to any religion. May be the system creates this dilemma and the Muslim or Islamic laws are far different then the Indian constitution. I think that it is a silly question to ask Mr.Anil.Since many decades treatment being given to Muslims has been unparalleled.There are examples from all the fields and sectors-politics,society,economy,culturally they have been given freedom like not a single sect enjoys in India.They get hugely subsidized HUJ pilgrimage,THOUGH THEY ARE IN MAJORITY BUT STILL CALLED MINORITY,unbridled population and EVERY POLITICAL PARTY TREATS THEM LIKE THEIR SON-IN LAWS....I believe that Indian democracy has made this sect most important from the point of VOTE BANK... Oh Common.. Democracy...Unfair=Golden chair..Made of wood Sachar commitee was not constituted when Kashmiris thrown out of Kashmir? I think if all non muslims walk through ring of FIRE and say we are not unfair to them..may be that will make the democracy fair. I can't see any other possible ammendments to the CONSTITUTION of the Republic Of India.

Indian democracy has equal opportunities to all Indians, regardless of their religions.
There may be some people, who do not want to see Muslims as dedicated Indians, who have vested interests in marginalising Muslims from mainstream for their own vested interests. Such people keep on giving such statements every now and then. No importance should be given to such statements

I definitely agree with what nital and anil says, if a personality like shabana azmi will say like this then what can we expect from others. In my view there has not been any bias towards muslims in this country and this can be proved from the fact that muslim people are ahead in various fields and they have been given top positions in major indian companies and moreover whatever the laws that are their in our country they applied to everyonr irrespective of their caste or religion.
so personally it is utterly nonsense on shabana azmi part to say something like this.

Dear Anil, If you thought her to be secular earlier than you were mistaken. She is and has always been a communist. The article from her clearly shows her true colours which she had been trying to hide till now. If at all you track her so called 'Public Service' functions and activities you can very well get to know her associates so commonly seen with her. They are all communitists. The communists are trying gain ground in areas where they do not have presence and such personalities are trying to lay the ground for them. HI There is nothing like that. Indian democracy is not dominant for Muslims. This all depands on the way of thinking. Muslims has to feel that India is also there country. Why most of them are praying Pakistan & terrorism. Why only Muslims thinks that they are poor and minority Hindu, Sikh are also poor but they love working hard not going to terrorists. I really didn't hoped this from someone like Sabanaji's stature.Shabana ji used to have an image of secular Muslim but by making this statement, she dropped her secular image. She has enjoyed all privilege and respect from the public. And if she feels, Indian democracy unfair to Muslims, what has she done to change it? Answer is simple zero. She should understand that the development of India is a development of different communities in India.
