I'll begin my argument by quoting the definition of lazy (taken from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/lazy) -- lazy [ˈleɪzɪ]adj lazier, laziest 1. not inclined to work or exertion (defined as "inactivity resulting from a dislike of work") So obviously the question is -- Are Indian not inclined to work or exertion? Over half the men practice agriculture as a professions while using more labour and less technology for the given purpose. This obviously means that Indian men in the labour force (over half the male working population) are inclined towards exertion and therefore 'not lazy'. A large number of women have multiple children. Since child bearing and child upbringing are both laborious activities, the conclusion is that women are also not lazy. In conclusion, the majority of working Indian (comprising the majority of working men or working women) are not lazy.

Sorry ... I am late 2join here. Hi ... everybody. Imagine this summer 2010. Scorching heat and high humidity through out March - June '10 hampered so many field works. People got ill while working in open areas. So is the situations with the Supervisors. Dont U think that climate / weather of a country might have an impact on work / activeness or lazyness ? On the otherhand, in most cold counties, work are hampered for snow fall/ cold rains/ blockade of roads etc. in the winter. Most of workers/ employees of such countries enjoy a break-less holiday from December to February ... U like to say lazyness ? Overall : Indian workers produce more considering their low wages, bad living conditions and hot climate. Thanks

Indians are not lazy. & it is depend upon person to person. Everyone has it's own style . When somebody says that he/she is a lazy then there is a comparison between two. Mr. Vaseem when you said that Indians are really lazy then you are certainly compare India with another developed country.Just take a case of 'KRAYOJENIC Technology " - Russia refused us to give this technology in 2003/04.& in 2008/09 we made SWADEHI KRAYOJENIC ENGINE . This is called the development , done by Indian scientist. Can you still say we Indians are lazy? 40 to 45% scientist who are working in NASA are Indians. Whole world know the quality of work created by Indian brain. Vaseem, please don't come to conclusion due to your personal experience. We are not lazy. Yes we are slow in some areas, but still we are superior to many developed countries in the field of Milk production, Sugar production & on ........ & to work on slow pace should not be denoted as "Lazy". And please remember the re-known phrase "Slow & Steady wins the race".

Mr Vaseem you wrote that we are far away from become a developed county.as per my concern we are touching height very fast to become a developed county.as we know we just got freedom before 60 years. in just 60 years we got good position in many areas and we are giving challenges to the world in many area!! nobody can make everything possible in just a single night.

Lazy-This is mis understood by all in this debate. Humans (Indian) cant be judged on their work pattern and conclude them lazy or Workaholic. Work implies ->Working towards a goal and /or Abstaining from the work(Working towards achieving the goal of “Not working”) Everything is in perspective view and within the walls of you’re understanding. Every human is special in his own ways. We can’t generalize them and anticipate augmentation of value in every work he does or every work he fails to do. Its human nature to pursue his inherent desire for self actualization and that need not always start with work which generates some output. As long as the system that harbours our society doesn’t provide modes for generating beneficial output from all kinds of work this stereotyping will exist. Comments appreciated.

Indian people are not lazy. In my country where East Indians(ancestral background)are majority of population, they are the ones responsible for the development of the country. They know about hard work from India.
