The customers behaviour is liable to undergo change, improvement with time. Accordingly their needs & also " how they view the product or survices" changes. The advertising also needs to undergo change ( which will be only thru innovation). E.g. THe white goods used to be advertised on the basis of cost or features which now has changed & many companies are focussing on health & wellness aspect of using a product

Innovation is an integral part of advertising. If all advertisements are given a routine treatment, all soaps will seem the same, LUX, DOVE, Dettol, Lifebouy etc. To create the character of a product and differentiate it from similar ones, innovation is an absolute must.

I don't agree with yuvaraj when he says that innovation doesn't matter in advertising. let me give you an example of toothpaste company close-up who always try and make innovative ads which directly get the attention of consumers. people who don't give a second look to ads will also be tempted to see an innovative way to promote a product.

Again you are confusing two different things. A companies CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility is different and brand marketing is different. And i am sorry to say mere social responsibility will not result in an increase in market share. And neither does it increase with just advertising. It is actually a mix - good and innovative advedrtising, a high quality product and good sales force are all what makes a good brand.
A good CSR initiative is an added bonus for any brand and not a prerequisite. Let me take your same Cigarette example. Can you imagine a Gold FLake school for the poor and needy. People will be up in arms as they will allege that the company is selling cigarettes on one hand t=which is iinjurious and running a school with that ill gotten money. And on your example a mere warning sentence on a packet doesnt convey much or help the brand.

Yes, it's very important remember the Coke and thumps Up ads? even today they are making improvements adding more and more glamour to it. We know these brands very well but still the manufacturers are hammering us, WHY? it's simple people have short memory so it's always important to keep in touch with masses with innovative ideas even the Lifebouy people have modified their jingle because that's must.....

To move on with success innovation is must in each n every field, whether its marketing, sales, HRM or anything.
With new innovative idea we can attract more people and that too without any age bars
Sometimes people remember many things because of its marketing style and if they find it attractive they try it at least for once.
So in any field or department innovation plays a very vital role.

Innovation by it self is not a tool to be applied , but rather something which has to be as ingrained as evolution. Inovation is needed as consumers are bieng exposed to a wide variety of stuff and at a rate which was unimaginable a decade back. But yes, Innovation in advt. will make a thing standout, but the thing needs to be innovative too !

saying Innovation is necessary for adv. is not worth. Because innovation is a part of advertising. There is nothing if some one is not innovative. For eg. If some company picks the adv of another company with same story so what is the innovation, what would be the first thaught in your mind that it's a copy of bla bla company ad. Advertisement doesn't matter here.
Like in cigar packets - its written : Cigar smoking is injurious to health.
How the company shares its profit to the lower end people, and help the physical disabled and also the aged.
