I second Raju on this. Internet is the greatest form of media & the future! Internet does carry cyber laws!
Why mobile & PC brands are so focussed on bringing Internet onto your laps!!? The reason is simply the usage, expansion and it's popularity because of the features and things we can do in seconds.
Another opinion: TV/ Radio are meant for passing time! Which is further put under - multi billionaire business profits for few who knows how to make use of it. Why waste time in all this, why not read few good books or area of your interest?

There should be no doubt about the fact that Internet is the greatest form of media, yet. It encompasses all forms of other media, Print, Radio, Movies, Hoardings, Banners, Tv, everything. It has got it all. Ofcourse, as with all innovations, the recognition will sink in with time. Maybe some more time. It is a super highway of information and interaction. It was concieved as such. Even now, there are many who promote the web estate to place a virtual corporate hoarding. This is a misconception. There is much more to it than, merely that. It is Interaction Network. The original concept was being able to interact on a network. Assimilate data and share the same, when done by millions worldwide it becomes a huge repository and source of information. Internet is meant for every person, irrespective of age. It depends on how a person takes advantage of the facility for leading a richer and fuller life. Facilities offered by the internet, in terms of information or convenience of enabling e-commerce promotes better time management and agility, but not lethargy. A person who can save time, gathering information, making purchases or sales, will schedule available time to be more productive. Lethargy is a medical condition and internet should not be blamed for it. Other forms of media also want their share on the internet and therefore you'll find most of them present. BBC, CNBC, NDTV, HT, TOI, all are on board, They just can't afford to be left behind. Ofcourse, it is plagued with downsides, as are other forms of media and to a greater extent. Since it is a formidable form of media, negative actions should be expected. Its psychology. Hacking, piracy, pretentions, phishing, spamming, etc., may prevail, but will be cut down to a negligible botheration. Moreover, the onus is on our intelligence to be able to use it and remain safe. The reason I vote internet as the greatest medium is because of it's democratic nature. Anyone can use it. Not only derive from it, but to use it as a medium to convey your own ideas, concepts, services, products, as well as for constructive collaboration and interaction. You don't need to be a media mogul to satiate your creative thirst.

It does wonders for the mind. A lot of creativity and a lot of discussion can be done via this media. I don't think people become lazy. for eg you have to walk to the nearby store for groceries etc. People who use the internet for shopping etc do compensate by exercising. It is better than TV where you have no choice but to watch what's popular. And popular tastes are generally very mediocre. Even newspapers are becoming just catalogs for advertisements. With respect to other media, the internet is very user friendly and 'intelligent'.

I agree with you that there are abusers. I don't think law enforcement will be of much use, as it will kill the medium. But as you say, offenders should be dealt with severely. You cannot shut down a medium just because some one's misusing it. I think cyber criminals should be punished, but please don't ban the internet just for them.

In my opinion internet is no doubt a very remarkable form of media. Internet has made this world a global village and we can do many things on it. It not just saves a lot of time it also
provides limitless information on any topic you require. Information on the Internet is available in
any format you are comfortable with and this makes it user friendly. It cannot be ignored that
Internet has a lot of cons as well but the fact that its pros are outweighing the cons proves the
worth of the medium.

Whatever we will be talking we should think of mass of people, not for individual.May be for new generation it would be a better idea to get internet as a form of media. But old age and middle age people could be little hesitant and nostalgic to see internet as a form of media.Apart from that, could we trust on authenticity of news from internet?Although i am convinced with internet's merits bt i cant see internet as a form of media.

see every media has there own viewer, listerners and readers. young generation always prefers internet media. internet is the tool for young generation it will defenately fly. but it is not mean that all the media are falling down. not on readership but quality wise we have to vote those media which are more authentic more social, more friendly.

Neha its not a point of shutting down, if its shuts down we cannot exchange words like the way, The Internet certainly is an excellent means of communication and for gathering information, music, news, etc it's second to none. However, I don't believe that it is the greatest media. The Internet has encouraged people to be lazy. Rather than walking to the shops to buy something, they simply click a button. Convenient yes, but ultimately lazy.

Neha what you are telling may be right but in other face the Internet is an almost lawless environment, like the border towns of the American frontier.
Practically anything can happen without a kind of law enforcement. For this reason I believe that
the Internet has increased the number of possibilities for criminals. Using the Internet, criminals
can hack, phish, con, not to mention offenders who groom children on the Internet and then try to
meet up with them. Stealing your personal information has never been so convenient for criminals,
it has created a whole new area of crime that law enforcement teams across the world were slow to
counter.

I think that television news coverage for example is excellent. We can have live coverage , verbally
and visually conveyed as events are taking place around the world and the quality of , for
example, of the BBC news is wonderful.
Radio is another excellent form of media. Stations such as the world service, Radio Four and local
radio stations bring programmes of all sorts into our lives without having to have a PC
available. Yes the Internet can bring all sorts of things to us but it can be abused and it's difficult to
monitor what goes on the Internet , it's easier to control standards on the television and radio.

I add to Abhinav- The internet is just another high potential media. Agree it holds a lot of promise but there are a whole lot of rough edges that will need to go before we adjudge it the best.
