Yes IPL is very disgusting, they are playing with the emotions of the sports lovers, which makes them to hate cricket. Cricket has a good name among the Indians but this issue has made it false, people believe they are been fooled and it is a waste of time......

So the government should have strict control over the sports events by not letting them enter into gambling.........

Yes,. I think IPL organisers are playing with the die hard cricket lovers of India.

Their is no transeparency in the proccesses of the events. They just want to earn money & make big Profit by creating BUZZ. But the real fun of cricket is lacking in IPL tournaments.

Ravali, Thanks for referring and Deepak an interesting title and topic. I will support this side. I also lost the interest in IPL during the half way and skipped all the matches till final. And with due respect to Sachin i believe that final also fixed after seeing the experiment on batting order by Mumbai, How can a settled team do it on final. I really doubt about the winners of the first two IPL winners also.

No need to write more about Mr. modi and his wrong doings. IPL and BCCI are exploiting Indians love to cricket. Thanks deepak

IPL is Beyond the cricket now ! Don't forget the IPL nights..Cricket is now a sport to make money, New Players are only playing IPL for making money, No Passion for the Sport. IPL is making Indian cricket worst. These controversies is a wake up call to the indian Cricket.

I couldn't agree more. To many - maybe most people who do not indulge in betting - some things about the IPL like outrageous flamboyance, offensive show of wealth and making cricket a "teen-patti" derivative make us disgusted. At the same time, the good things about the IPL need to be nurtured too.

Surely cricket or football or any other game need not be a gambler's paradise, neither a route for hawala money nor an ego trip venture?

Unfortunately yes! IPL is just a business opportunity to exploit the emotion of thousands of Indians!

Lalt Modi discovered the opportunity

There is no doubt.  The organisers know that poeple in India will pay any amount and will not hesitate to waste their productive time for watching cricket.  And they are exploiting it to the hilt.  India can progress still further if this game is banned.

I am not getting the funda of ipl. Acctully cricket itself is making humans lazy, but there is a class also so we cannot ignore it.But IPL?? It is not a game but making us fool. I cannot say that all matches are fixed but some feels likes that. Also how anyone can enjoy a party if he is a loser. But they can. they wested a lot of money for after match party . Everyone knows what happens to these parties. and before completing the finals know it is all open. lalit modi is no more chairman of IPL. Also this controversy has shown how they are playing with our imotions.

Sorry, Ravli I am not agree wiyh your statement. If it is so then tell me one thing that are you going to stop to see it's telecast.

Nowadays it is the media who creats hype for anything.Just consider the other side also. You are getting world class players performing at the same time . Please assume it as an shear entertainment, then you also like it.

& about money making then please tell me who does not want to make the money?Just change your angle of looking then you will get atleast some entertainment like Sehwag hammering sixes to his Indian team mate Harbhajansingh/Zaheer.

Also don't worry about gambling as it will never stop. As we all know what happened in movie is not true, still we manage our time & wasted our money on movies like Kurbaan, My Name is Khan & so on..........................& on the other hand we can see IPL at our home with our friends, parents, neighbours .

This is really quality time pass/entertainment & also at home, isn't it?

So please say thanks to Lalit Modi...............??????? Sorry........ BCCI & just enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ravali, may be you are right in your point of view. But if you watch it as mere entertainment source then you will always be happy. That time you dont see the side you just enjoy fours & sixes and catches.

When you say the word gambling, the same sport lovers only are into it. People watch and enjoy WWE, even though they know it is a mere script. But I am not saying IPL is a script. But sport lovers just feel like that when they dont get their expected results. we should never forget T20 is famous for unexpected results. and people used love T20 for that.

Not agree as IPL playing with our emotions. We are making decision without waiting for the complete outcome. Yes, there is something fishy around IPL but before making any harsh statement or feeling one should wait for the outcome. IPL is great entertainment package, it is loved by almost every1 of all ages.

NOT AT ALL... IPL IS POPULARISNG CRICKET !

Sorry Ravali, I absolutely do not AGREE with You.

Next we will ask - IS FAST FOOD PLAYING WITH OUR STOMACHS ? NO... it is just a Different type of Food, dont eat it, if you dont like it. EXACTLY IN THE SAME MANNER... IPL IS FAST CRICKET, a Sweet & Short version of the Game.

Why are we mixing EMOTIONS with ENTERTAINMENT ? Just go with the flow & enjoy those 3.5 Hrs of pure thrill. Someone will WIN & Someone will LOSE... even IF the match is FIXED, U just enjoy the game.

GRANDMOTHERS... TO GRAND CHILDREN... Has Cricket EVER SEEN such a Vast Family Crowd before ?

MEDIA just needed some Gossip Material... TWITTER gave it to them & WE... took it Emotionally.

PURE CRICKET will always stay pure, but this Version has managed to draw people from their comfortable Drawing Rooms... to the Vast Stadiums across the length & breadth of this Country.

And... What is wrong in MAKING HAY, WHILE THE SUN SHINES !

Happy Debating Friends !

IPL is not playing with Indian emotions. IPL is just a form of cricket and in India there is a large section of people who enjoy this game. It is the Media and the Advertisers who are manipulating and playing with emotions by bringing in regional bias ( though the teams are heterogeneous) and through unnecessary hype! Unfortunately there is a surfeit of cricket and IPL may not survive long with every country jumping on to the bandwagon with their own versions of IPL. Also the cricket savvy people in India will soon realise that IPL is being dominated by the "has-beens" , who were the greats in their times.

Thanks Dear Ravali for referring me this debate for supporting you, but I have very different opinion about it and thats why I am unable to support you, REALLY SORRY!

First of all who cares EMOTIONS!! Everybody, who are not interested in entertainment and carrying only tension of the whole world without doing anything are JEALOUS about this new type of creation in entertainment b'cos of its SUPPERDUPPER PERFORMANCE AND CRORES OF MONEY involved in it and these people are lacking it! But if you look towards the people involved in it, this type of cricket have produced so many STARS for our GREAT COUNTRY, which might not be possible without IPL!! Everybody has the RIGHT of earning money, so let them earn it !! IPL is now the FESTIVAL in our country, so let's come together, cheer up with YOUNG SEXY CHEER GIRLS, AND ENJOY IT !!!!

I felt like ROTFL  when i read this debate!!!

In a country of 110bn ppl...where any buisness earns profits.... why do we bring emotions in between for IPL?????

Cricket is like a religion in our country....and lets not forget IPL is the Commercialised part of this game.

In a buisness, emotions should not be brought in between... And if this debate has upheaveled due to the current allegations on Modi or due to the loss of MI in the finals...then I dont see any difference between the daily soaps and cricket...

If its the match-fixing argument, then this has been a part and parcel of cricket for abt a decade or so...

We are Indians and we should see to it that we channel our energy in the right direction for the betterment of ourselves as well as the Nation...Lets not get too emotional abt IPL...

Cricket is a game..respect it...enjoy it and lets show some sportmanship  spirit...

If you've got a big mouth and you're controversial, you're going to get attention.

“A civilization in which there is not a continuous controversy about important issues is on the way to totalitarianism and death”

I still support the IPL and I think they are not playing with our emotions because of one reason whoever wins that will not make any diffeence to our country. Come what may IPL is here to stay atleast for another decade. When the event was runing the all the controversies which were raised took a bsck seat and the tournament alone was in the drivers seat. Sincerely saying (being a fan of Deccan Chargers) had Deccan Chargers won the trophy I would say that my support for the team & the tournament is intact and I will not mind the controversies surrounding it. Even now I would say the same thing that I am still crazy about IPL because of the nail biting matches we have witnessed and the kind of suspense that was there till the end of the last league match. Even if the charges against Mr. Modi are true and even if he is convicted I would only rememer the tournament for the way in which he has scripted and the way hte tournament has entertained eerybody. (Of course there are somethings which matter like the sportsman spirit etc) I hope that our players will restrain from such activities when they play for the country, but thank you Mr. Modi for such an entertainment. Remember one thing my friend

"The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way."
