no its not good always. I have seen many deserving caandidates just go by and in their place really sad candidates been taken on board only because he was refered. Refererals do not guarantee an excellent employee ever.

always we need to think about making a good team but not at the cost of non deserving candidates but make a team of deserving persons not reference persons it will effect on the future . either we must need to train every newcomer at any post up to some extent but it is not a good thing to prefer a non deserving candidate

If it is happening this way. Than why we cry foul favouretism in the organisation. It is only the second part of the same coin.

Favouring anything at the cost of merit(yogyata) is always bad. It will ultimately eat into system. Did we not see what happened to quality in our own country? Having tasted the bitterness of the fruits of reservation system, we should not even dream of favouring anything out of the way. That's it.

for the simple fact that when I am in the organisation ,I believe it to be mine for which I will want only the best for it... I am not against references, but who ever comes from which ever source he/she must be the best. So one who deserves gets the priority and not the one who is refered.

Agree with dipika.. it is not wrong in referring candidate to the company or suggesting company to the candidate. We are just helping them and trying to get perfect profile for perfect person.

Because of this the deserving candidates feel bad, they don't have anymore faith on the comapny and the officials, this generates a hatred feeling for everyone in the company who is being favoured.

Reference is a good tool & there should be no harm in doing so, where the recruitment process is a full proof system & meeting the targets of the business

I surely support the idea of 'referrals' and also the view Sunil has shared. Its very true that an organization wants and grows only when a quality workforce is involved in running its processes. So as long as the referred candidate matches up to the wanted criteria, there is no harm done. Besides in industries where security, privacy, trust and risk is highly involved, 'referrals' are preferred far above new or direct applications.

thx deepika, i tend to agree with you. after all what is the first requirement of the selector when the actual recruitment process begins ? to have a healthy basket of candidates to choose from. as long as referrals remain confined upto helping create this basket, they will be yet another useful tool. decision making, which will have absolute as well as relative dimentions must be kept free of referal pressures. no stone should be left unturned to procure the best for the basket.

i too do support in favour of this ..becz now every mnc's wants thier employees to be the best ..for this they think tht it is better to recruit emloyees by the reference from their exixting employees becz they know them better...becz it sometimes happen tht while recruiting form place to place..you do recuit less deserving people..
