I have a different view. Every organization , a MNC status does not make any difference or adds any weight , has inherent right to frame its own recruitment policy/norms . Nit picking or discussions over these matters do not lead us to any meaningful result. We should accept them .

Private employers have the right to frame their own rules regarding recruitment and employing people in their business. How can a group of people fight with me saying that the new gardner that I am going to recruit should be so and so with 'so and so' experience? Having said that - even in MNCs which have strict rules for hiring, I have seen plenty of 'back door recruitment (recruiting a candidate having gap in education or employment). This is equivalent to a priest preaching that illegal sex is a sin but he himself indulges in it as often as he can. Regarding "....practical difficulty....person would not gel due to age difference....".... etc etc...... how are the young and old able to work in the armed forces?? .....how are the young and old surgeons able to conduct a surgery together?? how are they able to execute operations at the time of crisis?. Honestly this "young cannot gel with old and vice versa, east cannot work with west etc etc are all excuses given by a LAZY project manager and equivalent lazy team members.

Conditionally agreed :-) There is a practical difficulty most of the time as part of team building activities when there is gap in education and work exp. In most of the similar scenarios I went thru, the person would not gel with the team as others, as he has a difference in age. Have also seen a vice-versa situation. Anyway it depends on the duration of the break and the mind set of the employee and the team members.

I totally agree with you Mr. Sriram, what matters is, the knowledge and experience the candidate has instead of the gap in their education and experience, but at the same time we also can't ignore that MNC's like TCS they are not hiring people having gaps either in education or in work.

WHY NOT, THEY DO HAVE ALL THE RIGHTS TO WORK IN MNCs.
THE FIRST POINT IS, IF ANY MNC IS HIRING A CANDIDIATE, SHOULD SCRUTINIZE THE SKILLS WHETHER HE/SHE POSSESSES OR NOT, THEN HE/SHE CAN BE HIRED, IN SPITE OF LONG GAP EITHER IN EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE (SOMETIMES BOTH).
MOREOVER AN INTERVIEWER CAN ASK A CANDIDATE TO EXPLAIN BRIEFLY ABOUT THE LONG GAP THAT LIES BETWEEN EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE AND ON THE BASIS OF INTERVIEWEE's RESPONSE, HE/SHE CAN BE HIRED, IF THE ANSWER SATISFIES AN INTERVIEWER.
IT IS NOT FAIR TO REJECT SUCH CANDIDATE, VERY SAD!

It depends MNC company. We can not restrict anybody. Many candidates are prefer MNC company and company is hire as per policy. Candidate believe that if they are getting good job in MNC company, they can also get good offer from other company with good position as well salary. For candidate , MNC is good status in their mind. If company is not recruiting, they feel some reason and it is bad for both company as well as candidate. Many candidate have wish hat they want to make their career in MNC company. Not only MNC but also Domestic company have taking very care and the main reason is JOB TURNOVER ratio that we all know very well. Thanks Ms. Archie for referal

It is good to maintain the recruitment standard in a company but this is not right way by which an organization can maintain these standards. It is unfair with those people, having a very strong reason behind these educational & professional gap. How can we make out an opinion without judging a person. Do these people not have right to work in big MNC's?
