As it is a professional course, it is a value addition to your role. Helps to undersatnd the importance of HR in an organisation. Say, hiring is nothing but bringing an asset to your oraganization, What if a candidate is technically proficient but lost in attitude?

yes i do agree with prakash here...as MBA is not the only criteria they are looking for..infact nowadays they are looking for various domain skills..and as per seeing the requirements these days by the companies...where they are asking for more than 2 types of skills apart from the main work that the candidate is into...so MBA helps in this criteria....

Intersting Question. There are 2 aspects to this question. And as I see it one need not follow the other. A corporate will have certain culture codes and other criteria which ensures there is a certain uniformity in the team. From that perspective an MBA acts as a filter to a smoother hiring match. An MBA alone is not going to make a better recruiter. Infact to be a recruiter the candidate would have to develop other job relevant set of skills + develop an interest in the job. To rephrase The reason why Large Corporates choose a Qualification Criteria is to ensure uniformity. There other tools to assess whether a candidate is a safe bet for a Recruitment role. Please feel free to punch holes in this view :) . Its an interesting debate. Thanks Suvidha.

I think only a degree cant give you the ability to judge anybody, that is totally your own vision,I am not saying that MBA or any other degree doent worth, but a recruiter should understand each of every aspect of the person to whom he/she is interviewing.....

For all i think MBA is not mandatory to hold to be in the corporate world.Because i believe in learning through working.May u could be a one step ahead of knowing some extra knowledge but that you could come to know through your experience also.So it wont be true to say that having MBA degree matters to recruiters.

I don't think that One should have MBA degree to work as a Recruiter in Corporate,Not only in recruitments but also in other professional areas like Marketing,Finance etc MBA doesn't hold any Value. We cann't consider MBA as a contributory factor to create/cultivate managerial skills in anyone. One can find so many people in corporate world who are professionally doing very well without having any MBA Degree. Many of them are placed at high position like Managers,Sr. Managers,AVP,VP etc and they are very effective in Managing large teams. So it is not the Degree which helps anyone to rise in Professional world,it's the qualities/attributes/attitude that makes anyone to grow in professionalism. These people have good decisive power, leadership qualities, managerial skills, effective communication, negotiation & convincing skills etc which sometimes MBA degreeholders doesn't possess. There are so many Great bussinessmen who built great Business empire without having high qualifications like Dhiru Bhai Ambani etc.Even in our political world there are some great personalities who doesn't have any Management degree but makes great contribution in our politics. As I have done my Master of Commerce with Specialisation in Business Administration and presently I am working as a Recruiter in a Consultancy, still I believe it's not the MBA degree that incorporates good Managerial & hiring skills in you,but it entirely depends upon an individual's personality, his/her goals and what that person wants to be? For eg. if a person wants to be a recruiter he/she has to cultivate this type of characteristics like good decision making, effective communication, negogiation skills, patience etc. Some persons have these attributes by birth & others have to acquire it. Even some MBAs are lacking in getting good fit for their organisation, not having effective negogiation & convincing skills. Moreover now-a-days Corporates approaches Placement Consultancies for filling up their vacant positions and everyone knows the fact that most of the recruiters in consultancies are Graduates only. So every organisation have to give a Chance to Non-MBAs to prove their worth and it may be possible that they will prove themselves as a better asset for the organisation than a MBA Degreeholder. Its only about the company criteria that for becoming HR Manager or for promotion from Sr. HR to HR Manager & above you should have MBA degree it can be via DLP mode also. MBA is just a post grad. degree, I have seen thousands of Fresh MBA HR professional joined as Sr. HR, HR Manager & requesting on citehr.com for Offer letter format, Joining letter, Pay slip & lots of query. What they have done in their MBA HR. Good Managerial & Hiring skills are not slave of any Professional degree, its just a myth.

I support this.I ve also been an consultant and one gets lots of technology exposure in a consultancy than a corporate... You are confined to a limited technologies in a corporate... MBA can act as a knowledge source which can be sought from online source now a days... In recruitment, you have to test the tone of the candidate and match up with the requirement which could be quite well learnt through hands on experience. its not necessary to have a MBA degree to recruit a proper person.

I would like to say that if recruitments is the only thing you would like to do in corporate I dont think so that MBA degree is mandatory as it is more of selling and convincing skills that are required. In order to be in all gamuts of HR in corporate MBA always is a plus and helps.
