Looking at the engineering subjects I see no scope of other subjects. The subjects in engineering are enough and too much for one to take. In the end when it comes to job, we will be given training on whatever we are suppose to work. Studying other subjects along with BE is waste of time.

Yes, learning is never bad and it adds up to your skills and knowledge. You cann't tell what happens tomorrow so, its better to be prepared in this competitive world. But, the smartness here is choosing the right course at right time and not only learn but master the skills which will double your chances of being successful.

I don't think its necessary, but it will be a beneficiary option for professional students. Certificate courses in various software like SolidWorks, ProE, AutoCAD, Catia, etc will improve your engineering ability as well as reduce the distance between you and your dream job.

If one is willing to get a job in his/her core field, then go for "Engineering subjects".Other than that, if one doesn't get campus placement, then both Engineering and Special subjects are good to take depending upon one's career choice.
