@ Srinivas, sorry tend to diagree with you. Architects yes, to some extent but doctors do not innovate anything except those in R&D. Doctors loot the public and have turned the noble profession into an unnoble one ! If your contention was true then the scientiest at vikram sarabhai space centre should be paid double of what the IT chaps are being paid !

IT atleast the "high-end" of it needs a lot of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. It is these jobs that are highly paid. Other jobs where you are in IT parlance a code-bum are not so well paid.

Bread winner always get better deal than the rest of the members in a family. More the project eke out money for the company, better are ready to pay more. Nothing wrong in it. It's only the business proposition rules the budget not the category.

Though I am not from I.T. sector, still support their salary structure / high salary, as it worth for the efforts taken by these people & for that actually they are sacrificing their personal & social & family life. & their growth means nation's growth in terms of getting more tax from them which can be used for development of the country.

IT appears to get a higher salary because of the larger visible innovation content. This is true for other professions where good innovators rise rapidly. Look at architects where a lot of innovation is involved. Or Doctors who have excellent diagnostic skills - this comes from innovation. Or lawyers who can link and correlate laws, previous judgments etc to come up with something fantastic. Or the mother of all (financial) innovators - an ex-Petrol pump Mechanic Dirubhai Ambani

Although I am voting for NO, I think we need a balanced view here. Yes IT has helped accelerate the Indian economy. Yes IT requires more skills both technically and also otherwise - IT professionals are subject to extreme stress and long hours and weeks. IT companies work culture requires that you stay on your toes, and compete constantly, and they are meritocracies. But then, stress periods often come in bursts and are not constant. Nor is it true that other sectors do not have to toil or apply skills. Plus, worse, some high salaries have triggered inflation and this makes life impossible for some others. And worst, the insatibale hunger for better salaries results in attrition - which is not a healthy trend for the very industry itself - sustenance in the long term in the global market becomes questionable! Weighing the pros and cons, I think it is time for policy makers and industry heads to make amendments to help achieve a reasonable balance....

IT industry paying high remuneration, as a result cost of living is increasing rapidly. Its better to give optimum pay based on profile even though in terms of high profit. Hence employees would not expect much from the employer and there is a possibility to reduce attrition rate too.

Actually it all depends from business to business. In IT since the human is the only raw material hence being paid more. I think logically one company will not be able to deliver unless there is good talent with creativity being the second reason to pay more.

The salaries are disproportionate their work in IT field for Indian conditions. The flow of Dollars given the boost in salary hike compared to other sectors. However the salary cannot be measured with sweat of hard work. The boiling brain thrown out of gear in long run ie back problems ,BP, strokes etc.

It is true that the scope and the salary is high for the IT field than non-IT field.
But the IT jobs more strenuous than the non-IT jobs. Atmosphere is also different.
