I believe that it is possible to quit smoking once and for all. You just have to have that will power, support and determination. Smoking is a drug that produces a bad habit & addiction. Sometimes when those smoking drugs get into your system it takes control and makes it hard to live without cigarettes. That’s why so many people go back to it but if you go without it long enough you can break that bad habit once and for all. There is no need for a human to be smoking. It may be hard at first but it is doable. As I stated, in order to help a person quit once and for all, you’ve got to have support, will power, focus, a plan, self control and determination.

For most heavy smokers, smoking has ceased to be “just a Habit” and instead turned into an “Addiction”. Unfortunately for these persons, their “Will Power” or “Mind Control Power” (with regards to Quitting Smoking only) has severely diminished. They no longer are able to exercise their “Will Power” or “Mind Control” over this action of theirs and hence are unable to come out of this addiction. Believe me, I was addicted to cigarettes for over 25 years and quit smoking about 3 years ago. Since, only a smoker would understand another smokers plight (with regards to quitting), I have given my insights in the above mentioned link. Meditation, Mind Control, Hypnosis, etc., may help persons inflicted with this habit, but for hard core addicted smokers, all these (meditation, etc.) will not be of use. He has to follow the steps (given in the link) and may supplement it with meditation, hypnosis, etc. This would help to strenghten their “Will Power” to quit smoking. And yes, Nicotine allergy (Craving or urge to get nicotine in the blood stream) does not go away easily and may be in the system for very prolonged periods (in some cases for over 10 years). That’s why smokers who quit may take up to smoking again and again. But these with steps given in the link, people would easily overcome any slip-ups that occur and would get back to their “Smoke free days”. Good Luck

Yes. It is possible to quit once and for all times. And I disagree with Ms. Darshna. My dad did it. He used to smoke 5 to 7 packets (of Charminar Plain which is one of the strongest cigarette). He quit when he was around 40 years old and never lit up till he died. Please visit the site http://toostep.com/insight/how-to-stop-smoking?t=smoking where I have given effective and practical ways to quit smoking.

It is definitely possible to quit smoking, but it has to be once and for all. I have friends who have tried to cut down their smoke but they only end up going back to their regular dosage. Medicines havent hellpd either. I believe if you make up yr mind and are detrmined then there is a way to go. good luck guys

Best is not to start. When you are tempted to indulge in the first time, bear in mind that you will be looked down by others as a person who does not have the will power to resist an addictive habit which is proven to be highyly self destructive. I have scant respect for anyone, how big he may, who does not have the will power to practice self control.

Yes its possible to quit smoking. But quitting smoking will not happen by planning or taking a oath. It will just happen one day without any reasons & from that day Mr.X should be determinant enough to have smoke free life. There will be many challenges in the beginning days but if he/she crosses the first 18 days then it will become a habit. As per human psychology a process practiced for 18 days will become a habit. So smokers please do quit. you dont need to have some superstitious power to quit. All the very best.

What to speak of smoking, I have know persons who quit alcohol and smoking and just started living on pure vegetarian diet. Have you not seen the Westerners who have turned to Eastern spirituality ? It is all a matter of determination and spiritual inspiration. One cannot quit bad habits just on the basis of knowledge or mundane instruction.

Yes, it is possible to quit smoking at once. All it requires is a strong will power to do so and the commitment to not smoke again. I have seen a number of my friends do so (and this has been more than 10 years ago). Smoking can be quit by suppressing the urge to have one more smoke. "one more won't matter", "I'll stop after this one", are statements that show weakness on the part of the smoker to quit smoking.

Yes, anyone can quit smoking - if one has the will-power, and this would apply to all known habits. Since it is more than 15 years, myself gave a full-stop to these habits! So when myself can, any one can? The only problem myself faced is the withdrawl symptoms - asthmatic now. Why most of them do not quit - is that they cannot supress the urge, and the effect of quitting it may turn them to other sort of habits. If they can cope with the withdrawl symptoms for at least year or two, then chances of comprehensively saying 'Quits' to habits will certainly see a light. Otherwise it is next to impossible, but where there is will there is a way! The dependency is too much on this will make more depend on it, but less caring about it will supress the urge to habits. Try, Try and build will-power, any one can quit habit, and myself is a case in point - because after smoked and was alchoholic for more than 20 years; quitting was not at all a difficult proposition for me at least! Do not know about others - because they have all the arguments in the world - saying that they cannot quit, and come what may they won't!?!? Nice article to those who really want to quit habits, channelize their passion to the optimum into other areas of interest, and succeed in life!

Yes! I quit smoking in 1998 and not go back till date. But, so long as I struggled to get out of the habit (before 1998) I kept failing. It is important to appreciate that the need to smoke arises from deep within: The unconscious mind. And, attempting to supress that desire only leads to failure - it's not easy to go against the unconscious mind (like for instance, one's breathing or heart beat is controlled by the unconscious mind; and one can never stop breathing or one's heartbeat however much one wants to die!) During my Training as Lisenced Practioner of NLP in Chennai, Dr. Michael Lawrence from the UK taught me to appreciate the fact that the unconscious will only allow you to do what it thinks to be right for you. Hence, it is important to be grateful to the unconscious mind that provokes you to smoke in its belief that it is good for you! Hence, ask that same friendly-well-wishing mind to lead you to other worthy things than smoking when it thinks you should have a smoke! He led me through a process of visualizing, communicating to my own deep self... and I was through in then minutes. I never again felt an attaction to smoke; nor any regret for having smoked heavily for over two decades! First befrend your own deep self; appreciate that it saves you from stress/tension by leading you to your cigarette... then, ask that powerful friend in you to lead you to better alternatives! And, it works! M.R.Arulraja www.arulraja.com arulraja1@gmail.com

Yes, one can stop all at once. I was a chain smoker (about five packets a day) for 16 years and one fine day I just stopped. Its been over 20 years since then. Maybe I'm patting myself on my back, but I guess its a question of will power and resolve.

Yes, nothing is called impossible because impossible also says I M Possible. But it all depends upon your strong will and damage to health due to this can be made as weapon against it. I personally know so many people who were addict to it and now they are far away from this bad habit.

It is difficult and almost impossible to REDUCE smoking but it is absolutely possible for one to quit smoking. Only thing one should have the will power and determination to do it. It is almost two years since I quit smoking.
