These days, small cars are in boom in India. Due to small size and low costs, many people are leaning towards small cars. But the matter to notice is, this rush is increasing traffic problems in cities leading to increase in the uncomfortibility of the common public.

On the top of that small car market sectors, just for the sake of reduction in prices, are compromising with safety norms. For example, these days, every second TATA NANO's catching fire can be heard everywhere. In this regard, I would like to ask you all, will these problems detain the popularity of small or budgeted cars in India?

Mr. Sudhish,

Being in the field of Automobiles, we must look into some details bfore posting such comments. There are several cases of other brands cars catching fire on roads. Some are due to retro fit LPG, A/c kits, etc. If you observe the whole story of Mr. Sawant's Nano case, he is an insurance beoker, isn't some thing fishy here ?

If you have more details pls update me.

I think yes, due to increasing traffic, pollution, discomfortibility and unsafety reasons, in the long run the markets of small cars will decline.

sir i m very young and amateur as far as ur experience in d field of automobiles is considered.

yet i feel dat d stand ur taking is correct

it is not just tata nano dats gettin ablaze due to excessive heat but many other cars as well. again as far as d traffic scenario in india is concerned india has a very large second hand car market wherein d cars are locally repaired and sold after minimum of overhaul. these cars pose a much greater risk and add to already traffic  flooded roads.yet people are buyin them.take the case of delhi itself there are many cng and lpg gas fittin joints here. people get cng kits fitted from here and any wrong or loose fitting can cause serious misshappening as happened in rohini three days back when a bus caught fire just after gas ws filled in it. however as far as manufacturers are concerned they r tryin their best to provide good cars at cheapest of rates with the maximum safety gear they cn accomodate at dat cost for they have their reputation to maintain. if the govt. is not subsidising the raw materials then how cn we expect them to deliver superior quality at ultra low costs. after all they have to support and maintain their brand name and the heritage for which the brand is known it doesnt mean dat they r to go out of way ignorin profit and produce ultra cheap cars

However, coming to the point of debate, well it is not end of technological innovations. All types prevail as long as they are made suited to the market demand, and as long as people buy cars according to their budget.
