Well! Well! I simply gave my opinion and share my experience and four appreciative members think that it is not a good comment. No problem. My views still remains my views. However, I will never go on an international forum and criticise any important people in my country.

Sharukh Khan is an icon globally. He don't need a publicity stunt to become famous.

Arnold Schwarzenegger invites 'detained' Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan to dinner It is not clear whether Khan will accept the California Governor's invitation Photo: REUTERS Officials from the US Embassy in Delhi were asked by the Indian government to explain why the film-star was held for so long Photo: AP The actor turned politician has offered to meet Shah Rukh Khan on September 20 in Washington in a bid to diffuse what has become a slight diplomatic row. Khan, 43, who is considered to be one of the icons of Indian cinema, was held up for almost two hours after falling foul of US border officials in a New York airport at the weekend. Officials from the US Embassy in Delhi were asked by the Indian government to explain why the film-star was held for so long. The actor, who has featured on Time Magazine's '50 Most Influential People' list, was said to have found his experience at Newark Airport 'embarrassing'. However, it is not clear whether the actor will accept the invitation. Khan has recently signed a £125 million deal with Fox-Searchlight in the US to distribute his latest movie. Ironically named 'My Name is Khan', the film charts racial tensions in the US following the 9/11 terror attacks. Arriving back home to his Mumbai home, the star explained how the experience four days earlier had affected him. "I am scared of authorities and rules, so I try to follow the rules of the country I travel to," he said. "Whenever I am in America, I have to report at least two hours in advance while travelling within the country for security reasons - they ask me to take off my clothes and shoes, and I do that. "But I never experienced this kind of treatment." Khan denied that the detention drama was a publicity stunt for his forthcoming movie: "I don't think that I need publicity." "If you want to give a tit-for-tat policy to American actors, then call me to frisk Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox whenever they are visiting India," he added.

Published: August 15, 2009, 18:34 XPRESS Report Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's name landed him in trouble with US immigration authorities who detained him early Saturday, according to Zeenews.com. The top-billing actor, popularly known as SRK, was reportedly detained at the Newark International Airport in New Jersey due to his surname "Khan", which triggered an alert based on a list drawn up by US officials since the 9/11 terror attacks. It took an intervention from Congress MP Rajiv Shukla, who spoke to the authorities in the US and the Indian consulate, before Khan was released. US immigration officials also denied Khan a phone call for about an hour. Khan was reportedly quizzed numerous questions by US a immigration official and his hand baggage was checked. Khan was in the US as guest of honour at an Indian Independence Day event. SRK said in a statement to a news daily: “I told them I was a movie star and had recently visited the country for the shooting of my film. Nothing seemed to convince the immigration officer. There were other immigration officers who even vouched for me but this particular officer did not listen to anyone. I even told them I had an invitation from the South Asian community and was there to attend an event.” Shukla told Zee News: “It is really sad and unfair. Just because he has a common surname does not mean that every Muslim can be taken as a suspect or considered to be a terrorist. The concerned authorities should adopt an attitude so that a well-known name like Shah Rukh Khan is not harassed like this. They should focus on getting the actual suspects." Ironically, the harassment comes at a time when SRK is about to finish shooting Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’, a film on the touchy issue showing how minorities are being targeted for no fault of theirs only because of suspicion and no solid proof. The actor is set to fly back home to India on Tuesday.

Amit Kumarji, the intentions behind your voice may be true, I respect them. Muslims may be being harassed in the US. But the words phrased are a bit........ Because, to answer the above question, one need not become muslim (if he is not) and go to US and come back and reply, no? I have not gone to US and muslims may have been harassed there. Why the question did not arise before Mr. Shahrukh was stuck up there? Does Shahrukh represent ONLY muslim community and nothing else? Are you sure that Mr. Shahrukh was harrassed during his detention there? Are you sure that there are no other reasons than that he is a muslim - for his detention?

I don't know if Muslims are harassed in the US, But, I can testify that non-muslims are harrassed (it is a mild word comparing the treatment) in the Gulf States (so called muslim countries)

I do not agree that muslims are being harassed in US. Let us understand certain exceptional cases cannot be taken to make generalised statement. In wake of twin tower attack US had to take exterme measures to ensure that it does not happen & that required extensive profiling & interrogation of muslim inhabitants & travellers ( on assumption that terrorist org will recruit only muslim for their nefarious designs).

It is better to save general public who die in BOMB blasts than to show warmth to celibrities. When BJP govt was in power they BUGGED the walls of London Premier Tony blair hotel room. When the security and necessity of country comes...People should become sceptical even to GOD. This is why there has not been single attack in America where as city dewellers and common day to day middle class people of India kept on dyeing on streets in their own mother land in the hands of terrorists...Sometimes you need to be able to apply brain and need to understand a WAR is a WAR afterall and we can't stay BLIND.

Amit is right. Just because Shahrukh Khan was harrased, it shouldn't be concluded that all Muslims are harassed. Shahrukh Khan is a celebrity. That doesn't mean there should be separate rules for him that in a country like America which is always under the threat of terrorist attack. So what Shahrukh is celebrity, he is also India, so he should also undergo all the security rules. He is not a President of India.Just a film star.Thats it and news howled as if they tried to kill him. A few days back, even Emran Hashmi, after not able to get a flat in Mumbai blamed that he was ill treated because he is a Muslim. I can't understand why some Muslims of India relate every personal issue with religion ? Just to create publicity that whole religion is under threat ? They are not minorities and why should any Non-Muslim country take risk when all the terrorist activity is done in the name of Islam ?
I still don't agree to the fact that Islam is ill trated in USA or else Barack Obama, who is the son of a Muslim father, wouldn't have become the president of that country....

I dont know. What you say Ms. Alkaji, may be true. There were news in the newspapers regarding underworld connections with cine-celebrities. If Mr. Khan is clean, there is no need to worry and people should keep cool. Only problem would be his personal schedules may have upset, for which he himself OR his personal asst (if he has any) should be responsible. Comming to the main arguement, if there is any problem like pandemic or fight, the foreigner will be strangled natuarally - may be, nothing special for muslims, I hope. Do we not worry foreigners coming to India - if at all they brought swine flu? that should not be taken as harrassment.

I would say the authorities at the NY airport were only doing their duty without discriminating between a common man and a celebrity. Duty always comes first without discriminating any caste, creed, religion, origin, etc.

i feel its my big 'No' right at the moment. We cant come to the conclusion just because shahrukh khan has been harassed. We got to investigate the shahrukh episode.May be some faux pas has happened and otherwise things are in place . So It wont be right to brand america anti-muslims.There is lot of muslim population in states. And some of them are doing very well .
