With ban on toys imported from china.

Will you still set up shop in China ?

Is it worth the risk ?

Is it worth outsourcing manufacturing to China ?

What's your opinion ??

I support import of technical goods from China as they are quality conscious, comparatively cheap and very good. But the catch is that one has to devote lot of time and energy to locate the right source.Once you have done it you will hit the Bull's eye.

I feel its not worth outsourcing manufacturing to china because, if INDIA can ban import on toys made in china, they can try to ban other products as well which are developed/ produced in China. I feel we shouln'd take risk at this moment.

i don't thinks so, just because their toys were not meeting the standards one can't ban or stop outsourcing the manufacturing thing to china, as they are the pioneers in the electrical stuff that is out there in the market, and the products are cheap just because their way of manufacturing things is totally different and they are still superiors in manufacturing worldclass home appliances, and other electronic items... so one should not stop outsourcing to china, just because of one incident.

In my opinion, it is not worth, even thinking to outsource manufacturing to China.

1. To brain-storm on this, just think, why China is able to dump goods, at such a low cost. China has no sustainable labour welfae policies, no safety policies , no social security in place. The production is on ad-hoc basis. This ensures, lowest manufacturing costs, but it does not lay platform for sustainable manufacturing base.

2.Next, just think of "service back up" provided by Chinese companies. Once product is sold and installed, the chinese companies do not provide any further support.

I have seen many textile machines, installed due to cheap cost, are either lying idle, or working at reduced efficiency. They are either due to spares non-availability or service.

It will be interesting to watch, the steps taken by China to overhaul manufacturing sector.

1. China has a capability to upset a market with cheap products, but has no track record of capturing market with consistent quality, fair price and friendly after-sales service.

2.China has no laws estalished towards labor welfare, environment, fair accounting practices. It has a policy of manucaturing with lowest cost, by whatever means.

3.China's manufacturing set-up is not designed to sustain for long term basis.

I am curiously watching, till what time China bubble goes on.

Just because of the pricing and looks we'll not go for Chinese products, it was shocking toi know that hazardous chemicals like cadmium are used in toys which children handle and play with. How can we risk our own kids and inturn our own health? and as it is so far somany productsa are available here in India which are sub standard or below quality and manufacturers don't give a warranty on those products. Just because it is cheap No point in outsourcing chinese products, it's better for our today and best for tomorrow unless strict rules and regulations are implemented.

Yes i do agree with isha on this, it is not safe anymore and the ban on toys made from china is the right way as there were toxic substances that were found in it, and even if there are other products that are made in china and which are available for very cheap amount, if they are not meeting the standards then they stop manufacturing the outsourcing from there, people should be responsible enough not to entertain products which are not meeting certain standards.
