Knowledge and skills are both synonymous. But there is a difference which clearly depicts skills as a part of knowledge acquiring process. There can be no substitute to knowledge. Assertiveness, confidence, articulation and many things do crop up if you have knowledge.

My experience has made me take this stand. It is knowledge that is important but the skills that makes knowledge more relevant and effective are much uncommon so much more in demand. One must have the necessary skills to use knowledge sensibly. This includes both soft, personal skills as well as hard, functional skills. I think most good B-schools would think it infra dig to talk about skills. Yet industry constantly bemoans the fact that many managers do not have the necessary skills to make them effective in their jobs.
