Ratan Tata has waded into the telecoms scandal engulfing the Indian government by launching a blistering attack on rival mobile telephone networks who he accuses of manipulating telecoms policy in Asia’s third-largest economy.

Responding to public allegations of impropriety, Mr Tata, chairman of the Tata Group and one of India’s most respected business leaders, on Thursday published a letter to a member of parliament in which he accused “politically motivated operators” of having “wilfully subverted policy under various telecoms ministers”.

His rare public intervention threatens to shed light on what opposition politicians have termed a “malignant nexus” between politicians, bureaucrats and powerful business people that dominate India’s corporate landscape. It comes after he successfully appealed to the Supreme Court against the release of taped conversations between himself and a corporate lobbyist regarding his telecoms business in India.  Ratan Tata is seen as the most respected business leader across the world...and people have high regards against him. When a person of this stature is challenging the government to probe things from 2001 sheds more on this malignant nexus that is there with politicians, bureaucrats and Business people which is dominating India's corporate landscape today...

People, these are one of such cases which media is highlighting like anything, as big names are involved in this...there are many people who are doing things in the right way and just because few people are involved in these scams we cant point finger at the entire corporate sector.

This has been happening since independence, common people didn't knew much. But with Radia tape leaks, many became aware of such crony capitalism for the first time. Its common to use influence and money to manipulate govt policy to benefit one's company. It happens from local level to highest level. Its issue of 'culture', that encourages wealth accumulation which is considered 'real success'. At local level, just see example of local businesses who influence municipal authorities to national level, big industrialists influencing central govt. It dominates whole corporate landscape. No one doing business in India can escape this. Politicians need money for their elections, parties, families, Bureaucrats want promotion, extension, favorite postings, and business people want to maximize profits. So this nexus flourishes.

An ineffective government helps breed corruption. It can be compared to Drainage. The more foul smell it emanates, the more it becomes the breeding ground for all diseases. In this case, more it is ineffective, the more is corruption, misappropriation and mishandling of sensitive issues. We are being run by a government that is lying with a paralytic stroke. It can't move or do anything.

Anyone is free to do whatever he or she wants to. The Problem is that people who should be Uncovered through the Legal System are Covered or Protected by the System, for their Personal Gains. In a Society in which the Education System does not give Importance to Morals and Ethics, and produces people who feel that whatever they have Studied or have got Degrees by Hook or By Crook have the Permit to exploit the Society. With such kind of Mindset, people like Tata cannot do Justice to their Organisation, as they have to Survive or Compete with the Reliances who have No Ethics, and feel whatever their Predessor has done is the correct way and is to be followed. The System also supports this kind of Working. The government has implimented the two Operator Norm for Mobile Telephony, which was OverRidden by Reliance for the CDMA backdoor entry to Telecom Business. Today, the Reliacne name is not figuring in the Scam, and Tata, who I feel is a Honest Industrialist, has been dragged into Controversy, just to make Confuse the Public Mind, who would beleive that a Person of Tata Stature is also involved in Scam and the Real Culprits, would not be coming in Focus as the Debate on Tata's Involvement would go on and on.

We are throttled by beurocrats and politicians. Both are busy in amassing money by hook or crook and least bother about the public who virtually empower them. Both are busy developing and engaging 'Mastans' as zamindars in the past used to engage 'lathials' to protect their own interest and beat and murder those who raise their voice against them.--Dr.S.N.Ghosal

Forget India Nisha this tradition prevails in the whole world whether it’s a democratic nation, communist or any other. This is going to happen and each and every region of this world is driven like this. People just say democracy but no-one enjoys complete freedom. What happened to Jullian Assange until now no-one bothered what he did and what were the ways he did, but now he got stuck by such a silly case of not having safe sex. What does that shows…….They are going to use laws for their convenience and they will in future……..and future never ends.

No. corruption is bound to be there as long as we tolerate such politicians, bureaucrats and immoral people weild power. nevertheless we have travelled this far because there are and will always be, creative people who dare to defy the nexus and do things on their own.

The nexus is every where. Be it between politicians, bureaucrats or corporates. It only matters when some one is caught and things get exposed. Even though media understands it, it works only when it achieves something out of it. How many times the cartel formed by big corporates are bandished by our law? How many times media exposes a story that does not affect big corporates and really relates to common man? So the culprit is not the corporate world, but our believe in the system.
