Tata Motors, which is setting up the plant to roll out the $2,380 Nano, has faced violent protests and political opposition over the acquisition of farmland in Singur. What do you think?

I don't know whether Mamta has done right or wrong but the Tata Nano car is being prematurely over-glorifed long before even one has taken on our roads. It is a shame for some leading dailies and TV channels to tom tom that Nano represents India.

TATA IS  INDIA   NOT  MARUTI  ,JAPANESE

 TATA  NANO  Vs andy  nano
volume  200 cc  fuel 1.0 Lit @ 5 Lit/hr/1000 cc
andy engine 1/3 volume for same HP   vol=630/3=210 cc say 200 cc
fuel cost per hour =  $1/Lit* fuel/hr= 1*1=1
fare cost/hour= fare $1/10 km*speed=1/10*110=11 $/hr
net = 11-1=10 $/hr;
5 hrs, 360 days =5*10*360=18,000/year
IN  TATA  NANO FUEL USED= 110/20=5.5 Lit/hr
BUT NORMAL USE @ 5 Lit/1000 CC     FUEL = 5*0.63=3.15
HENCE NANO IS  WASTING  5.5-3.15= 2.35 Lit/hr
AT 5 HR, 360 DAYS  FUEL  WASTED = 5*360*2.35= 4230 Lit/Year
LOST COST = 40*4230= INR 1,69,600/Yr , EXCESS CO2e  2.35*8.37/2= 9.83 TON/YEAR/CAR

I think Tata should have done a complete recce before starting work at the Singur plant. The recce should have included the social and political issues. It would be quite absurd to take the West Bengal Government's word on land allocation for granted.

In my opinion People's power can save west Bengal. Mamata has some problem, she doesn't want the project to be established only because she doesn't want WEST BENGAL to develop. She only thinks that she would gain fame by opposing Tata . She is doing a publicity stunt for herself. Finally all I can say is that she is an cunning lady more over a worst political leader who is very selfish. Tata should wait for some more time for the response of the poor People in W.Bengal
