Apparent that Politicians and Bureaucrats have shown up utter lack of managerial perspectives in planning and execution of the entire event. Is it 4 or 7 years ago, we started thinking about cwg 2010. In corporate world for any project, a lot of thinking goes to get every activity either concurrently taken up or dependent on completion of another activity, are all listed and a blue print is made, identifying critical activities that needs attention as those can delay the entire project itself. Over the last 2 years, every time there has been a review, a new committee is appointed and even in the last 2or 3 months, this is what has been happening. PM should have easily called a few of the TOP MANAGERS from corporates in infrastructure field and would have asked them to come out with a plan working backwards from the date of completion. A mega event like this, are the Kalmadi's and Sheela Dixit's right people to whom the work should be entrusted? Finally it is all commonsense and knowing the skill sets required and summoning them to get the job done. The latest estimate is rs.70,000 crores, what an atrocity and what a dent on self belief of Indians, especially from Middle class?

Yes, managerial skills were lacking in running CWG. However, they have now rectified their faults and it looks now that CWG will become a great event.

Most probably there is a lack of a top-class Project Leader/ Project Manager to complete the CWG project within a alloted time and budget without the compromising quality aspects.

The CWG Mess is lack of managerial skill in our politicians and bureaucrats who can be termed as " CWG - Central Waste Group". It is a pity we still tolerate them.

Yes I agree with Mr.Dommaraju that CWG preparation shows a clear lack of managerial perspectives. But, If we look at this issue from another angle we should not feel sorry because most of our central ministers have very little education. They have absolutely no experience in managing even an organization with a budget of more than five thousand rupees. If we tell them about performance appraisals and quality assurance they will tell us that these are terms introduced by 'white men' for the western world. This coupled with lack of proper leadership supported by a pathetic indian adminsitrative service finally created what we call 'the great CWG mess..'

Thanks Swetha for referral. I am in total agreement with with dommaraju. An interesting topic.

This clearly shows that for any project managerial skills are required within the agreed time frame.

On a lighter note think all the corporates are run by the group of politicians and others what would have been the fate of the corporates in India?

managerial skills hides a whole lot screw-ups.....from project planning to execution (forget closure....they finished nothing!) and quality are all lacking.

The only good thing to come out CWG are suresh kalmadi jokes!!

He tried to hand himself and the ceiling collapsed!!

Shame is a too mild a word.

Yes, the managerial skills of the OC is questionable. The kind of people who have been given the mandate to run the show lack managerial and also communication skills. This mess also clearly throws up a very important aspect that of lack of leadership qualities. None of the people managing this show has shown leadership qualities. The leaders who run the country too lack professionalism and leadership skills. Thus, when there was a crisis, people ran all over like headless chicken with blame game and excuses.

Organising such big events and which are staged for the first time surely will have some glitches and delays. but if they had perfectly planned and executed their plan alongwith a team who has the knowledge, skills, and expertise in managing such huge events, the games wouldnt have been in such poor light today.
