That can be a yes and a no answer. Marketing is complicated for some and easy for others. As time changes, sometimes there’s always new and/ or improved marketing techniques. Marketing can be learned with high proficiency many times without a college degree. But knowledge and training from school is highly beneficial. You get real world experience by being out in the world and utilizing what you know. That’s where the real learning & mastering begins. For some people, marketing is not as complicated as many make it out to be. Some people can handle it & some can’t. It just all depends your knowledge, skills & abilities. But when you break it down sometimes you can pretty much say that marketing is hard because there is an art & science to it. It is something that must be continuously learned and/ or relearned & put into practice. It can be hard for some to just even put into practice. It may seem hard to some because of the certain methods or techniques that must be learned, mastered & the testing that is needed to help them see results. Once you learn certain methods and / or strategies you can master the basics of marketing. Many times it can’t be mastered because there is always something new to learn. Once you feel like you’ve mastered something, the next thing that you know there is something else to learn. There are many different components of marketing which can be difficult. Marketing is a difficult discipline. There is an art & science to marketing that requires both theoretical and practical knowledge. ~Renee / Clerical Business Solutions: Renee is a business management specialist & business consultant. No Pallavi. As a practising marketer i know it is a science....pure science...... When we dont do our research or try to comprehend our TG, we try to guess it in our minds. That is the first reason people even marketers think it is a complicated thing. Also, we mistakenly believe that science is about perfect answers. We expect accountancy to be perfect and hence a science and not marketing since all of us know how much trail and error goes before we find runway sucess. Well guess what even mathematics has unanswered questions, so does marketing. Does this mean it is easy? no i dont think so. But is anything worth acieveing easy :-)

I have just one argument - consider the number of good , or even great , manufacturing organizations in the world , and then consider how many good advertising organizations there are. It is the easiest thing to launch a new product. It is the most difficult thing in the world to convince someone to buy it , when he / she has several competing alternatives to choose from. Marketing is only 50 % knowledge and something that can be learnt ; the remaining is an art , which not many can master.

Marketing has been done since long time, advising or referring or giving suggestions comes natural to us. It was easier as long as we were a country or scarcity or were coming out of the colonial mentality to developing country. But once we crossed that hurdle we became more educated, more open society, got more confidence in our abilities and became conscious of the fact that we can get to the top, suddenly entrepreneurship got a filip and overnight we changed over from a license Raj dominated country to liberal economy post 1991. So we had to slowly adopt those practices and adopt such means and follow the path which was once treaded by the developed countries which once used to be developing economies. Marketing as a cocept developed there and that concept came into India too gradually. Cealrly marketing is not that easy anymore and requires lot of knowledge to pass through the clutter and get into the mnds of the consumer in the exact manner and at the right time and the right way. Does anyone now feel it is that easy? Who is that much confident? If it was that easy then any Tom Dick and Harry could produce any products and services and it would have neen an instant hit, there would not have been any failed ventures. But the reality is different and here comes the complexity of marketing. The product differentiation now very little, its the marketing which is the real differentiator.

Marketing is a complicated blend of various parameters, which may be apparently irrelevant, but actually are not so. If all these parameters are well thought of and well executed, then the results can be predicted else the efforts can get swayed in any direction.

Neither Yes or No. Marketing is as simple or complicated as your product is a success or failure respectively. Marketing definitions don't answer the question, your net profit will answer it.

Yes it is complicated it all depends on a persons communication skills, presentation, presence of mind. One has to be fully loaded with innivative ideas to convince the customer there is a joke but if worked practically one can sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo. Marketing is not everybody's job one has to be trained and then he has to mould himself as per the situation.

Marketing a product is really complicated. The selection of line of marketing, budgeting, advertising the same, selection of targeted users of the product, and implement some intelligence upon them to make our product marketable through this resources is really critical. since marketing is the last and crucial process in a product development. From the stage of resource funding to physical output every one concentrate on the marketability aspect only. In to days fierce competition, much funds needs to be invested to market our product and to sustain the brand value thereafter. Changing consumer behaviour and living aspects have direct affect on a product which makes marketing is a complex where minds has to be bundled every day with emotional intelligence for survival.

A very good question but to answer that one has to go back to the basic which is "What is Marketing ?"Marketing is that science which enables you to disseminate information about a product or service. This then later evolved to involve tools of identification, analysis and evaluation. To put it in laymans language, Marketiong is the tool through which information is disseminated about a product or service. To make it easier to understand lets talk about an example. Say you visited a book store and liked the shopping experience and the price so much that you return home and call up two of your friends and tell them about your experience. That in a nutshell is marketing. You have successfully marketed the book store to your friends who can be treated as the target audience and the medium used is Word of Mouth. IF you agree that this is simple, then marketing is indeed a very simple thing as long as you identify the goals you want to achieve, target audience, the media for dissemination of the information and the pricing, then you have all the ingredients for a successful marketing.

Marketing is not complicated, it is changing or it is evolving. Marketing is also one of the most confusing word in the world of management. Most often marketing is confused with advertising but the process of marketing starts from knowing the need of the customer to fulfilling it. The Indian markets has shifted from being product oriented to customer oriented, thus, the whole marketing had to change. If you take an example of a healthy organisation, then one can observe that their marketing process constantly being changed or upgrading. We can see that Indian corporates are venturing into global markets, since the customer groups are changing, similarly the marketing process also needs to be changed as per the need of the customer. Marketing cannot change by itself, it will drive the whole organisation along with it. Therefore, marketing is not complicated, it is just changing and we also need to accept these changes.

I dont agree at all that Marketing is complecated. Actually one should understand what is the difference between Sales and Marketing. Rewgarding Sales to cut it short the demand is greater than supply. Similarly in Marketing the size of the cake is to make it bigger by way of innovations so that additional produce get sold. Take the case of Minaral Water/Botteled Water the first Company to introduce Minaral water in India was Mohan Mekin but unfortunately it used to be packed in the beer bottels. Since drinking was a stigma those days no body will carry the bottel. Bisleri find out this to be a great market and they came with plastic bittels and it started sellinb. The buyers used to be the upper crest of the socity. Immidietly the market was flooded with Minaral waters from various company. Seeing this Bisleri came out with a dispenser and with 20 litres bottle wher in you will get instant cold and hot water. The market size started growing and today every indian carry a packeged drinking water bottle mainly in metropolis and other cities. The market is growing now this is Marketing. As of now it is a pure science since there are many tools to gauge the potential and so on. Hence I will not call it a complicated matter.

Marketing is definitely not a complicated thing. To make marketing successful it is very essential that we know the product that we are marketing. We should be able to anticipate beforehand what the questions would be. This is possible only with in depth knowledge of the product

Marketing is ultimately convincing the right targetted segment with your products or services. It becomes easy if you are aligned with your products/services. Things become difficult when somebody forces himself/herself towards the alignment and take it as compromising stance. So its not so easy all the times.

as per me marketing is the only way which makes a company introduced in front of a market as well as customers of different levels. so no body has to take marketing as a burden rather it's a way to interact own company with various types of customer. without inovation or without sells how new products should come to outside? or how customer will get aware abt that?

I dont agree with you Purvi... S... it is very easy to say that Marketing is same which was earlier... Marketing is basically Identifying, Exploring & satisfying the Consumer Needs at PROFIT... Yes, Practically Speaking the Approach of Marketing is Changed with upgradation in Technologies, Knowledge & Awareness level of consumer, Multiple options availble for consumer and so many... Which essentially needs more Proper, Systematic approach not only to sustain in the market as well to prosper. So, the overall Requirement of Market, Consumer is Driving the Special Attention of Individual Companies to focus more n more towards Individual customer in order to maintain there Position Steady in market. So, this overall Drastic change in Consumer Behavior has brought the change in Approach of Individual Organizations & therefore in Marketing... Frankly putting up, earlier there was Sellers Market and Now its BUYERS market... and going ahead it will be Channel Market... Bcoz Channel Partners will be Product/Service Specific more than End customers... So... All this has made Marketing complicated which is not True... Dats wat I feel...
