Media, though very strong today, is too weak to change the society. Society can be changed only by visionaries which happens once in a blue moon. Examples: Mahatma Gandhi in India and Abraham Lincoln in the US.Media is just a mirror of the society. If you see Rakhi Sawant or Munni badnam hui as straightaway hits on tv channels and in newspapers, it is only because the society laps up the Rakhis, the Munnis and the Sheelas.I say this from my personal experience after spending some time in the media.

I support this side because the media of all types gather/collect information on what is going on various places and then reports the same to the viewers.Mostly they report the sensational matters and leaving what is very important to the public. Now a days people are able to judge whether it is a correct information or not. Sometime the medias earn dissatisfaction from the public or society.Media can change the society in case they give the useful and required information towards development of the society. The medias should follow the ethical reporting systems that would favor the people of the society.

Yes, media is changing the society. They are presenting what they want to rather than what they should do. Media has forgotten their responsibilities. Any media to day, be it print or electronic, they are only catering to the customer, and when a certain thing is being served again and again, the society has limited option no to accept it. If media says that they are serving their purpose, they should ask themselves only. I think, they are selling bhel-puri only. After a half-an-hour discussion on a TV channel even the editor forgets about it, and gets ready for the next episode. A newspaper does not cross-check their data, and publish it. Yesterday only I saw a photograph of our PM observing flood from a helicopter and the Thai PM distributing relief to flood-victims by herself. Our media is silent on such subjects because it does not sell.

It can be a little bit of both but mainly it's the media. Sometimes they tell you what they want you to hear and on some occasions they'll tell you the truth.

You have to be very mindful of what types of media that you listen to and what they say. If at all possible you can do research on the things that they say then draw your own conclusion.

Todays media is so biased and has a single minded focus which is to enhance their profits that they would change everybody - the society, people et al. For a few lines of sensational news, media turns everything topsy turvy. To describe it in one of the old proverbs - media makes a mountain out of a mole hill. Society is not spared in its aftermath and is usually the first victim of change.

In order to increase the circulation/viewership and generate more revenue Media focusses more on negative journalism to attract additional public and to retain the existing base.On regularly going thro lot of unwanted, unproductive information, many get a temptation to try what they have known from the media and some try doing that also either successfuly or unsuccessfully.Media shoul have a positicve role in the development of the society. There is ample scope to do many productive and beneficial things to the society in large.

I agree and disagree in a sense that all the scams or for that matter every thing is shown on TV and as we have seen actions are initiated on the basis of this in numberless cases so though the process is slow but will be a leader in changing the society.

On the other hand habits die hard so visual media will take time and the society will change but may take decades.

Society is changing of course but through media a small change of the society is spreading through out the country and through out the world that people of other area who want the same changes in life can take the decision, can support it and spontaneously make response to it.

Its vice-versa! Both have the capacity to hound, nothing more, nothing less! DECISION rest with the Government and Judiciary - in majority of critical issues both are colluding! Therefore, it has become so easy for a politician to claim that 'LAW WILL TAKE ITS OWN COURSE'!

media is changing society. we can see it today all around us. TIMESNOW reported so many scams in front of our dining table which woudn't have been known without them. They are the ones who followed DIG Rathore Molest Case and help him get jailed for another year and fined. Do u need more examples????

Its clear as the day, that media has changed the society and it continues to affect staggering changes in our society! Well, the flip side of it is that the ultimate goal of it all seems to be to fill up the coffers of the business magnates and other wannabes that control the media to suit their whim and fancy. And the common man unwittingly and most disgustingly laps up all that's projected by the media.. 'hook, line and sinker' not even stopping to give it a second thought. The worst affected in our society by this media-assault is today's youth, who believe that aping all exaggerated stuff shown in the movies, teleserials, fashion ads etc, is the 'in thing'.... yuck!! I just hope somebody will give it a serious thought.... But... who???

i think today media has completely changed the way of thinking and way of communication, in the past media resembled with the society but now scenario has been completely changed...for example in the past men were not in favor to manicure and pedicure but as the emergence of fair and handsome and other brand via advertising and marketing now men are using it and they become more conscious for their skin.. next example is the way of communication in the past people used a good language for communication but today's youth communication is totally different they start their morning with f*** and end with s*** i just want want to say that the film industry and fashion world totally acquire the mind of today's generation and i am worried about the future.. thank you.

They are in the loop! To clarify the idea: they create and amplify each other. Before long even the creators of virtual reality shall lose track about what is really "real". Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stated something like, "What you do in this world is a matter of no consequence. The problem is what you can do make people believe you have done!"

The Media didn't want to change, they wanted to continue earning money! No, its the society which changed first and the media had no choice then to change as well and they don't do a good job with that. Technologies like Internet caused technology revolutions and people use prefer to use that instead of the old media like TV and radio

Society is a vast thing and it is affected by many factors. To my viewpoint I think society is affected by media to less than 1% extent but to media society has a greater impact on it. With this statement I can easily say that it is media which is changed by society not the society which is changed by media. But these days the influence of media upon society is becoming greater and greater day by day. Still it's impossible to transform society easily with the help of media so soon.

Let me put a few things into perspective for you (and I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on these points):Social media won’t change the world or(Society ): -The social web — along with increased access to broadband and wireless/mobile networks — is bringing more people together. But the tools that make up “social media” are not world-savers. People can save the world; social media tools can help people to make positive change, but can not change directly to the society.LinkedIn going public isn’t going to change our society or our economy.Social media won’t save/change our life:- Now I can point to many examples of people who will say the Internet save/change our life or Twitter save/change our life. But the fact is that other people(society) save/change our lives and all the Internet — or Twitter, or Facebook, or the blogosphere.

Media is the reflection of society, and what the society wants to see the media will depict the same. If the society is not happy with what the media is portraying, then the society has a complete right to withdraw its support.

media is the voice of persons ,it is not a business or a tool to change the society.it is on us how we looks at it.when we know that all this activities done by our media then what we do to change it .beside this all ,you are saying(sex, crime, boldness, etc),if anyone raise his voice to stop it no one support him. why?..... so conclusion is that ki we are setting the media media is not setting us .
