Only a couple of channels are doing society a favor by bringing out the real issues the AAM AADMI of India faces, wheres the majority of the news media hypes and shows only sensational stores with the sole intention of increasing their TRPs. In question are headlines like "chajje par billi chadi", "SP ka kutta gum ho gaya" and others. The channels that focus on real issues also let the issues subside after a while. I see no one held accountable, or made to realize the mistake(s) he/she has committed. Offenders usually dodge the questions one way or the other.

Well honestly, today, I wasn’t interested in the repeated minute after minute coverage of a plane crash in Pakistan. It just went on and on about a non issue. Looked like there was no news in India that was worth it. Makes me think that India has become such a goodie-goodie place that there is no NEWS for these channels to cover !! Today, it just was worthless piece of junk. They kept on telecasting hours of nonsense about a plane crash in Pakistan when there was so much to cover in India. This perhaps is because of their incompetence and lack of manpower to cover news. Honestly, how many people in India would be interested in Turkey to Islamabad plane crashing in Pakistan. This could have been a 5 minutes news item, but not continuous boring of a non issue.

Absolutely Not!!!Its a gossip platform where other's pain are presented in a spicy manner to increase TRP & advertisement. The presentation of all big news channel is Same---Breaking News & Unnecessary Venturing to the trivial issue. I doubt, the Poor People run away from media,as media people will earn something but the plight of the poor will worsen.

Hello Mula Santoshreddy, Media Channels should highlight the achievements done by professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Businessmen, etc. But they give importance only Movie Industry and politicians. They can also highlight the shortfall of Government bodies Telephone Department, Corporation and Public Works Department. K Rajagopalan.

What is TPR? It is a popularity rating. The ball is in people's court. If viewers shut them off, then they will not show non issues too much. But there should be a law to differentiate between Actual News, Entertainment News, and importantly News Analysis. Combining all these together in one News Chanel is the worst case for many common people to understand the difference.

No they are not caring the general public but their TRP. Any issue which is beneficial for the TRP they will highlight that issue only. But there are few channels which are little bit caring the public.

Never Media forgot the responsibility for the society now they are just money making machines and they just high light those issues which are irrelevant but increase their TRP and just some of the terrible shows they telecast a huge advertising and suspense creation gives the hype and they make the money through advertising and criticizing the govt is the main motive of media it has lost the fourth pillar of democracy . now its concrete pillar made by money with the money

Media too as a commercial business needs TRP and favouritism. Walking on the thin line to maintain the TRP and not yet offend the govt / beauracrats they always try to hide / eliminate the bitter news. Moreover trivial issues most of the time go un-attended whereas news like a 2 ywear old fallign into a ditch is flashed for 2-3 days at a stretch.

Media is most interested in TRP; so they follow trends and gossips. Like previously interviews and quiz were trends; later antakshari and saasbahu serials, then crime stories, followed by astrology-mistery-cookery, now role playing and reality shows are trends! so media run behind only money!

No. They dont, unless there is an increase in their TRPs. And then, they cover the same news, repeat it throughout the day, again and again, with some people analyzing the news item many times over, boring the audience repeatedly. And Of course, how can they cover more "News" when the Ad time is more than the "News" time. Nothing innovative or new in these channels.

Blame it on today's generation. What is media today is because of we people "Viewers". We want only entertainment, glamorous, rumours, thrilling news. Anbody who is of this generation tell me frankly who is really watching DD news or some other national news channel like rajya sabha, lok sabha or gyan dharshan every day. May be few watch these national channels. We are not much concerned about the news which are indeed needed to our daily life. So are private media. Yes of course medias should also take their part of blame. But businesses completely rely on customers. If they really want to survive in this world, they have to satisfy customers' need. Ultimately customer is the king in this business world. If we encourage good news channel, then there is not too far to have news channel which provide the news which is very essential to our daily lives.

"Survival of the Fittest" is the order of the day. However strong objectives they hold, to survive in the media space, they ought to run after celebrities in order to raise their TRP. How many of us consciously watch Doordarshan, hitherto ruled the media space until privatisation started, as their programs are screened properly before they are allowed to telecast as per law. Of late, viewers have shown their interest in masalas rather than quality.

Yes Namrata you are to the point. The channels are more concerned about their TRP rating as compared to of peoples problems. They are in business and have to compete with channels hence TRP is more important to these channels.
