Whether it's a Mumbai bomb blast or any other disaster, bee line of Outside Broadcasting (OB) vans of various news channels can easily be found hovering around the site. Every news channel tends to disseminate information more attractively, but not effectively. Media, it seems has forgotten its duties as the fourth pillar of the state, it's all about grabbing more and more eye balls and standing first in, So what you say about our media is it doing well or going wrong way.........

yes,in my thinking media is defintly goin to a wrong way,bcj now they hv no intentions to gave uus informations bt they r fighting with each other they r in competions,i feel very bad wnever i hear or read this line that...sabse pehle humne aapko bataya ki....sabse pehle hamare channel ne ....i dnt think that this is a gud language for a reputed channels.and apart from this they play wid news specialy in crime reports..personally i never like to watch any crime news of any channel, bcj they all hv same style same time n sorry to say same horrible or can say gunda type faces for these all news..they show u again n again that how he kills him or her,how he shot her..,they show us horror stories like iss haveli mai kuch to hai..yahan aaj bhi krishn aate hain ..etc etc..they knw tht there is a lots of people in india who blindly blvs in news channels n dnt knw about shootings , recreations etc..and they are very easy target to make fool..is this the real work or purpose of a news chanel.i dont think so...

we have a lot of issues in our society to cover decently,we have a lots of news which can motivate, teach, aware, enlight to our society .they need  just frst n gud step to go through a diffrent way .

i jst want to appricate some channel like NDTV,times now and cnn ibn working in his own way widout fighting and mainting the dignity of media.

i knw media can do better work if want..bt they dnt want..they have to understand that people like us are laughing at them not respecting..like earlier.

no from my point of view media is not going in wrong direction but some time it deviate from its path. for high trp and competition with oter news channel it losses its diginity at some places but it doesnt mean that they are not doing there work they are doing there responsibility given to them . because only keeping one or two incidents in mind we cannotsay that the whole work is wrong

Yes the Media needs to show more restraint. They should realize they are reporting not making news.

Yes. In the the mad frenzy for the TRPs the visual media (English) is going against the basic ethos of Journalism. But section of it has realized the fault-lines, I think. And doing some corrective steps.

The picture still lingers of the Mumbai blasts. Gory pictures of the blasts on the back of the anchor and the anchor proudly proclaiming his channel has the latest updates time and again. Even the debates on channels have lost credibility.

I think yes. Today's media is full with irrelevant topics and celebrity news which hardly effects our life. It also pulls controversy more. Many a times it does partiality which it is not supposed to do. But in today's date, for money, anybody does anything...

I deem that this is a simple and obvious question. And ppl aware of it and some media are going in wrong way and depicting the news based on their own way to create hype about them and some of them contain political influence as well. Only few are good and i don’t want to name them..

Yes it is, blatantly biased reporting by media by and large has not shown a high degree of social responsibility during the recent international conflicts like Bombay blast and Gujarat riots etc.  Media is being used as a battle ground for political frustration, imperialistic hegemony, human right violation, invasion of sovereignty and privacy, regional and racial violence, smearing of reputation and practicing of deception and exploitation.

Yes! It’s hard to believe that many leading names of broadcasting clans often spread wrong information in order to raise their channel’s television rating points (TRP). In other words, it’s all about grabbing more and more eyeballs.

Media has to be everywhere. They have to cover celebs, news, happening news, breaking news and any other form of news as it is necessary toknow what is happening where!!

They play a very important role in meeting us with personalities, their views, complete (albeit edited) coverage of the most horrific and the most celebrated events in our country and our lives. And if they are playing the TRP game, why not? Are the people working in these news channels on gratis? Are the employees so good that they can work without getting paid?? I am most surprised with the answe of the TV news anchor of MH1 news!!! She is working for the channel and taking their pay checks and yet.... Whats hgappening to loyalty, passion nowadays??? Are people really choosing their right career tracks??? Its a shame!!

Puja i agree that we should not reduce the importance of the work done by media in making us aware about every day-to-day news just because of few stories where they have go overboard in order to gain more TRPs.But yes i agree that in future they can be more responsible in providing the news and do not just fight for so-called TRPs.

no from my point of view media is not going in wrong direction. but it has lost its dignity at some places. Imean to say for there higher trp they can go to any extent. and its true that they are crossing there limits but only on some places not every where. they are doing there work also. so we cant say that they are at wrong path but at some places tey deviate due to which they have to listening the bad music from society. but remember the welfare works mdone by media.

Well...judging from the recent high-voltage coverage of terror strike in Mumbai and riots in Gujarat, it cannot be said that it is going the wrong way...yes, unfortunately they are not going the right way either.  What I mean to say that the technological advancemet in news coverage is admirable and the dedicated efficiency of the reporters is very visible. What really the problem is that they get lost of the focus and strategic insight in their unbrideled enthusiam in breaking the story first. At times, it so happned that simply becuase of live media coverage, the terrorist gain more then the viewers get information. They need to understand the implications of what and how they are reporting. The ramification of such international conspiracy have been overlooked and at the end of the ordeal, we come across as a country, lacking media and political maturity...
