Its not necessarily to happen, but its been happening. Whatever may be the kind of technology, it need a human face, lest consequences will be different.

Ya ofcourse modern techology destroying the soul of humanity. We can take the example of Internet service, the young generation spending their time on wrong works like hacking, on porn works, cyber crime also increases day by day.. So Modern technology is good as well as bad for human.

I don't know if I am for or against "Modern Technology destroying the soul of Humanity", but I guess this will help. "Digital Divide" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_divide) is the gap between those who can afford modern technology and those who can not. Some earlier Reports say India has the Highest "Digital Divide", with 70% of the Indian Internet Users in Delhi. "The Rich becomes richer, the poor poorer". But then again, in this current running Post-Industrial Society or 'Information Society' as we call it, information is the most crucial point...to the exact person...at the exact time...and at the exact place...and with the faster running Globalization, how do we do without it???

If the country has to pick up momentum at par with the other developing countries, influx of modern technologies are must. But it does not mean that the technology should replace manpower. Every citizen in this Sovereign Country has a Right to Live, and it is the utmost responsibility of the Union and State Governments to enhance the skill sets of every citizen so that they place themselves in tough situations. Their dependence on hard work for want of education and skills would go. They should also enjoy the fruits of benefits we citizens enjoy after opening up of our economy and liberalisation! How long do we keep them in dark? We citizens have onerous responsibility to lift this strata up to match with us!

Technology is not new, it existed all the time. Where technology is used, How it is used may make the difference. It is lust for quick money and the shifting focus of technology on this could be harming.

A philosophical question! A debate like this can take up hours of discussion! If you are talking about the "soul of humanity"; unemployment is a very shallow point you have brought up :) "Soul of humanity" is a very deep philosophical thought; when we are talking about it we would actually need to talk about the primary reasons and motivation for human beings to survive. Getting back to the debate, it would be difficult for me to comment on such a deep thought as I am not a "philosophy scholar". So I chose the safe option, "NO". Regards, Om Deshpande
